I borrowed Sewing Activewear from my library and I found it pretty useful. It's a bit 80's but it teaches you how to do all the techniques you see on active wear.

I learned my own basics from a Ray Jardine book and just trying it. Everything tends to have instructions and you can always use Google if you aren't sure what to pick.
