Hey, hopefully someone can offer some advice here -- I work a sedentary job and I have sedentary hobbies -- I also have a family history of heart disease, making cardio extremely important to me.

I also live in Michigan, meaning I can only really go jogging for about half the year. I started to substitute jogging in the icy/snowy months with a cheap recumbent bike, but all it really does is hurt my legs -- I don't run out of breath, I don't sweat. It's really weird.

So now I'm looking for alternatives for an in-home way to get cardio. I live in an apartment that I'll probably move out of in a year or two and I may have to travel a large distance and leave bigger belongings behind -- meaning that, in a perfect world, I get something I'd be okay losing, or something compact. My apartment ceilings are fairly low, ruling out the skipping rope, and with how ineffective my recumbent bike felt, I feel as if I should do something that has me on my feet -- especially considering I sit all day.

I was thinking of getting a treadmill like this, but I'm worried that since it lacks incline, it might not really be effective. Then again, it's cheap, lightweight (for a treadmill), and seems to have glowing reviews.

Suggestions, opinions, past experiences, etc... Any advice at all would be great.
