They quietly discontinued the PS Vita outside Japan in 2016. You're going to have to import from Japan if you want a new one. Amazon Japan just recently got more stock of the black and aqua blue PS Vitas.

Do you already own a PS4? I would go on Amazon and buy a PSTV. It’s a tiny little thing but it can play Vita games on your TV screen, and you can buy/download PS1 games as well so there’s more value. You do need to purchase a new controller to use with the system (I could be wrong), but those don’t cost all that much. I suggest getting a Dualshock 4 (basically a PS4 controller) as there’s some minor stuff you can so woth the touch screen.

  • Persona 4 Golden on Amazon

    $20.53 (based on lowest-priced option I found)

  • PSTV

    $249.95

  • Dualshock 4 Controller

    $42.99

So far, using all the cheapest options, that runs you $313.97.

You may be able to find certain things for cheaper, not sure.

Edit: Apparently the Vita goes for cheaper than the PSTV, clocking in at $220.

Swapping out the PSTV for the Vita brings the total down to $283.52.

Edit 2: I suck at math and logic. You wouldn’t buy a controller if you bought a Vita. Final price is $240.53.

Others have already said basically the same thing, but I'll add to the pile.

The GPD XD will be great for everything you want to do with the exception of Nintendo 3DS, PSVITA and Persona 4. An actual PS VITA can be had used for a little over $100. If you jailbreak it, you now have access to the entire VITA library + Persona 4 Golden and games up to and including the PS1 and Gameboy Advance, but Nintendo DS emulation isn't really viable due to a much slower CPU compared to the GPD, though I guess they're working on that. Still no 3ds.

If you want everything on one device in your pocket, you'll need a GPD Win 2, which is orders of magnitude more expensive. It's also powerful enough to run Citra (Nintendo 3ds emulator), a Playstation 2 emulator (Persona 4), All consoles up to and including Gamecube, and all but the most demanding of PC games. The only thing you'll really be lacking there is VITA games, as there aren't any viable VITA emulators out there yet that I'm aware of. (Vita3k looks promising. Not there yet though).

A laptop with performance on par with, or better than a Win 2 can be had for less than a Win 2 goes for, but it's not exactly pocket friendly. Still, this might be a viable way to go paired with a decent controller as long as you don't mind lugging it around. Some benefits too, such as a larger screen and better heat management on account of a larger device.

Want extra style points and be Cyberpunk AF? Pair a laptop with an Oculus GO standalone VR headset and a controller. Use Virtual Desktop to put yourself in a virtual space in front of a gigantic hovering display and play all your emulators that way. You are now officially a huge nerd, and have to tote around a bag to carry all this stuff with you, but the concept is undeniably cool.

Got a used FAT PS Vita with 3.63 from Amazon Seller. Should I keep it?

So I placed a PS Vita (assumingly ver2) order from a seller on Amazon. I assumed version 2 (Slim) because the product details mention PCH-200* as well as pictures, show micro USB charging port.

FAT PS Vita I received seem to be in excellent condition (no scratches, fingerprints or any scuffs). I spoke with Amazon rep and they offered to give me a credit of $20. Given that I got a PS Vita with version 3.63 (that gives me plenty of room to hack) should I keep it?

I have a Switch (non-Homebrew) and I thoroughly enjoy it. My main reason to get Vita was to remote play with my PS4pro, mostly at night time while resting on my bed. While homebrewing was not my main objective since I have the option I might just well.

If you guys where in my position what would you do? Keep Vita 1 and homebrew it; Keep Vita 1 and put 3.69 on it or just return it an order from another seller?

I paid $135 for this vita.

EDIT: Thanks guys. After reading your comments and chat at the discord channel, I think I will keep the FAT Vita with me.

Just double checked.

eBay (all used ones are just under $100, though you probably have to pay for chargers and memory cards)

Amazon (go for $100+ but probably more reliable and convenient)

Still, don't forget to factor in costs for wires and especially memory cards if you're buying a digital copy of the game and going for a Vita.

Edit: The 250 one was probably new

It was this one and it has already arrived.

Looks like they have put the price up a bit following this announcement. Play Asia recently had the sky blue ones which are nice.

I also recently ordered a used PSTV...

Feeling the end of the VITA a little!

I live in Japan and just ordered one sold by Amazon Japan, the all Black model (PCH-2000ZA11) hoping it will be on a firmware lower than 3.60. I purposely avoided the newer colors for this reason. My finders are crossed. I will post here if it's good to go. I will receive it Wednesday (thank you scheduled delivery).

Here's the link: https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B00F27JDTU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also I bought mine directly from Amazon.co.jp (this link for some reason brings you to a third-party seller, you have to select the option to buy amazon.co.jp on the right side of the page to buy from them).

Amazon.co.jp

  • blue vita
  • black vita

Have to go to other sellers on Amazon/New Used, check New, then search for Amazon.co.jo directly, it will go out via global shipping which only takes a few days. I got one a few days ago actually, came with 3.68 firmware (meh) but was only $170 shipped, not bad for brand new.

Correct - these are Japanese retailers. The handheld's had some life there, and continues to draw in a niche dedicated market.

If you're not averse to importing, you can get a Vita from Amazon JP for about $173 USD shipped. Or, you can splurge a bit, for a few bucks more, to get one of the swanky coloured ones.
