No problem.
Kershaw Scallion (Small, assisted opening, steel is not so great)
Kershaw Skyline (good size, G10, nice blade shape, steel can get to a crazy level of sharpness)
Kershaw OSO Sweet (pretty cool assisted opener, great price there on amazon)
Spyderco Tenacious (same decent steel on the OSO Sweet and Byrd, good G10, good blade shape, Spyderco quality, great value)
Byrd Cara2 (Great value, overseas production brings prices way down on all Byrd knives)
Here is one above your price range
And one below your price range
So this is what I have with me usually when going to work. Which is a 1h journey by high speed train, crossing an international border.

Spyderco Native.
Like you, I don't like serrated blades.
For a folder, I love the Spyerdco Native. It's got great ergonomics, a very durable edge and is right or left handed, you can also flip it point up or point down. Just a bit over your $50, but it really will last you forever.
My favorite fixed blade daily use knives are made by Mora. Swedish company, and they make exceptional knives in your price range, they really should cost at least twice what they do. The Model 2010 is the most versatile, IMO.
My personal favorite folder, that I carry with me everyday is the Spyderco Native. It has the same blade length as the Chill, but it's a little fatter. Absolutely love this knife. It fits perfectly in my hand and has never felt small. A great choice for a folding knife in my opinion.
Lone Wolf Swale. Lone Wold Trask (essentially the Swale but larger). Mcusta MC-13. H&K Nitrous Blitz. Benchmade Mini Griptilian. CRKT Eros. Spyderco Delica. Spyderco Native Lightweight. Spyderco Sage. Benchmade Rift. Kershaw Blur in S30V.

It's fucking lame. I don't care though, I carry my Tenacious still.. But was thinking of maybe getting this instead http://www.amazon.com/Spyderco-Native-Lightweight-Plain-Knife/dp/B0002IO16E/ref=sr_1_24?ie=UTF8&qid=1324888033&sr=8-24
It has an upgraded blade steel (s30v), and is 3 inches. And no, that's not what she said
Yup, you can't really go wrong with the Tenacious. Alternatively, if you don't mind spending around $50, you should definitely look into the Spyderco Native. One of the best EDC blades out there and $50 for a S30V blade is just about the lowest I've seen for S30V on a knife.
