I got a lenovo phab 2 pro for $500 and this. I had to take some pliars to bend the corners of it but then it worked fine.

Can also contradict. Just got a Starlight headset, and while it's not perfect it's good enough if you go in with reasonable expectations. Holds phone, stays on your face, lenses are good enough to see depth. It does feel very cheap and there is some minor light leakage, but it functions and it was only $20 so you can't expect too much.

Biggest issue with it is that it's very uncomfortable, but that's easy enough to fix. Just attach some foam so it's not plastic directly on your face.
