Seems to be the way most companies are going now. I read that you can also upgrade those lights on your break light above the rear window. Be careful if you do order them as that's where the key fob reciever sits and if you get bad LEDs they will interfere and knock the range down to about 20 feet (I know from experience).
I got these ones here and they were shielded (what I replaced the interfering ones with).

They aren't super bright like the ones I had before them but, they are brighter than stock and don't mess with my key fob.
