Just in case you didn't know, we actually did get an updated Tactics Ogre for the PSP.

I have sunk at least 300 hours into it, and when I finally learned how those forbidden weapons worked or whatever they were, another 50 trying to get decent ones.

That game is so fucking good.

There's this new game, Children of Zodiarcs, isn't quite available yet unless you Kickstarted it (I know, kickstarter is scary) but I have been playing it since it released in beta and it's solid so far. I'm not sure about story though since I'm not trying to follow it until the game is fully released, but your concern isn't story if you are talking FFT and Tactics Ogre - hopefully you've played [Let Us Cling Together] (https://www.amazon.com/Tactics-Ogre-Let-Cling-Together-Sony/dp/B003YVK5T8).

It introduces an odd card system where your attacks are based on card sets that you compile for each character. The cards are your abilities (attacks, spells, healing, etc.). This makes it a bit more interesting as in games such as FFT and Tactics Ogre - you could get OP with your full arsenal of abilities available. This also removes MP restraints which sucked in Tactics Ogre (again, a way to reduce the OP spellcasters).

It's another game that has been described by its creator as some sort of FFT descendant, so you always have to worry when that gets tossed around, but they actually have a playable game that is 100% complete gameplay wise. They said all that's left is some cleanup with story and such.

People like to hate Massive Chalice, but it's close-ish. The problem with that game is the lack of actual battle strategy (each character type basically has one way to play) and the insane amount of randomness. For a strategy game, the only act of randomness should be the accuracy of attacks, but there are too many factors that will ruin the game for you - add to that the "Fog of war" during actual battles (like xcom) and you have a rather frustrating game. I will say this though, Their system for breeding and raising your army should be stolen and added into some other game. Agarest with it's 20 generations should do something similar and sort of back off from the dating sim situation.

In a perfect world, someone would make an SRPG with Final Fantasy Tactics' job system, Massive Chalice bloodline system, and somehow, the Nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor/War.

Normally it is $19.99.

On amazon, they are also selling it for PSP for $10 which is normally $20.

BTW, the game requires 1.10 GB free space.
