The first three books were originally released in paperback only. There was a Book Club version that was hardcover, and some extremely expensive, limited printings by subterranian press, but on the whole, HC copies of the first three books are rare and expensive.
Orbit is publishing new HC copies this fall I believe, so you can preorder those if you like.
