OMFG! The dog from next door pooped in my front yard, I gotta call the fire dept hazmat team just to be safe!

People have been so trained to be scared of their own shadow or to not think for themselves these days, it's not even funny. OTOH, Rhodes scholars don't apply to work at thrift stores either, so buyer beware.

I know my local GW has Internet access because they now have some things tagged, "Compare to eBay at $X.xx" on some of the stickers so they are cross referencing eBay on at least some of the items.

Somethings you know they are not checking because some of the prices are way higher than retail or online prices. About 6-7 months ago, I saw this big, thick coffee table book:

at a local GW for $25, it was dirty and had some scratches on it, it has a hard cover binding wrapped in white padded vinyl and the Navy seal is raised up about 1/4 inch from the cover. Some Formula 409, a soft cloth and it would have cleaned it up nicely.

Very nice book but they were closing in 30 minutes. I'd gamble that nobody would buy what could turn out to be a very expensive book and I could pick it up cheap the next day. I went home and at the time, Barnes & Noble were selling it new for $14.95, it you bought it online with in store pickup, it was $7.99.

Used, dirty and scuffed up at Goodwill for $25 or pristine brand new at Barnes & Noble for $7.99, I'm going to have to make the hard call on that one!

The next day, I go to B&N to pick up my online purchase and the person behind the counter asked me if I was a member of their discount club, I said no and he gave me the discount anyway, after sales tax, I walked out of there with this new book for $7.13.

P.S. I told a retired Lt. Col. Army friend about this book, B&N also had one for the each of the other branches of the military, I went back and bought the Army book for him, same deal at $7.13, he was happy as hell to get that book.
