The Planiverse by A. K. Dewdney is probably my favourite scifi novel and deals with the day to day life of a two dimensional being. It gets rather detailed into most areas of their life and the author had input from a huge number of advisers to make everything seem to work as it might if it were real.

The second dimension is way harder to explain than that.

There's a book called The Planiverse that tells a story about a two-dimensional being walking across the lone continent on his planet. It explains in great detail how things like biology and physics and technology would have to work in two dimensions. Its solution to the digestion problem was that creatures would have to regurgitate when they're done digesting. Of course, there are greater problems of how to open a door without causing a ceiling to cave in, and dealing with rain that can't really be absorbed into soil because it would leave no gaps for the water to flow downward.

Needless to say, if you read it, it might ruin the parts of the show that aren't about street racing.

How do you get a 3D display? As others have mentioned, computer screens are 2D. Perhaps a separate screen for each eye? There are also auditory cues to suggest 3D.

It is an interesting question. Some suggest we have a hard time imagining 4 spatial dimensions since we have no experience outside of our 3 spatial dimensions. See Edwin Abbott's Flatland as well as Dewdney's Planiverse.

A computer game world could be set in 4 spatial dimensions. Presently a lot of 4 dimensional polychora exist in digital form. Perhaps a player of this game might become accustomed to 4 spatial dimensions and have a better understanding.
