For nightmares, flashbacks, and a general sense of danger, I found the PTSD Workbook to be very helpful. Safety was a very big issue for me, and I felt this addressed it very well. Then again, that's for working through issues, not necessarily stories that are encouraging/etc.

I don't know what country you are in, but do you have access to this book where you are? It's the type of book you could work through on your own, without involving anyone else.

>ive really not been taking my full course of meds or at least any at all after seeing the effects it had on a close friend of mine before he decided to end it all sadly.

Did you have bad reactions to the meds? Did your friend have bad reactions to the meds? Don't be afraid of the meds. It's actually common to have bad reactions to the meds. The doctors know this. If the meds don't work for you, let your doctor know. The doctor can change the prescription(s). It can take a bit of experimentation to find the right mix of meds that works best for you. Don't give up on the meds.

>Going out the other night was the first time leaving my house for as long as i can remember i dont even go out grocery shopping i get it all delivered so forcing my self to go out the other nigh proved to be little help to my current situation.

Did you have a PTSD reaction while you were out?
