According to the book The Residence, HRC has legitimately been carrying hot sauce around with her since at least the 90s. I listened to that book on Audible at work and genuinely laughed at loud at that part.

The staffers recall memorable moments in service to 8 Presidents and Family. Without animosity, they make it clear that Hillary was the most difficult resident to satisfy, and the most prone to outbursts.
This is a benign history book, not a polemic. The Staff are fiercely loyal and tight lipped - but the off-stage persona of HRC is noted as exceptionally abrasive.
