It's good enough to protect against scratches and small bumps when in my messenger bag.

If you want something a bit more protective, I highly recommend the WaterField Designs VITA case.

It's expensive but I think it's worth the cost. Feels sturdy, holds a few games, and has a rear pocket for accessories like a charging cable.
