Have you gotten Rocket League yet? The graphics card I picked out comes with PC version if you buy it from New Egg (it's out of stock right now, though :/). Also, how old are your keyboard and mouse? If they are pretty old you are going to need a dongle like this one to make it work with the motherboard. I included an optical drive, but if you aren't planning to use a disk for the game, you won't need it. I didn't include a wired xbox one controller because I assumed that you had a wireless one that you use with your xbox and could use it for your pc by following these directions. I included a bunch of headsets and made all their prices 0$ so you will need to add the price of the one you pick to your final amount... but it's under budget!

This keyboard is using PS2, and you would need a PS2 to USB converter. That being said, the best luck comes from an "active" converter, which you can find on Amazon

That could be part of the issue. If it's a modern motherboard, sometimes it doesn't output power back to the keyboard in the same way as ones made in the 90s.

I'd say grab a cheap adapter like this one:

It may work and, even if it doesn't, you won't be out a significant amount of money.

I got something like this so I can use both keyboard and Trackball with a Single USB

Active PS/2 to USB adapter for $7

> they use a lot of power,

It's a negligible difference. It's not like using a Model M on your laptop is going to drain the battery quickly.
