Reddit reviews Treasury of American Pen & Ink Illustration 1881-1938 (Dover Fine Art, History of Art)

Thanks for the link, there's heaps of amazing art on that blog. I got the image out of this book: https://www.amazon.com/Treasury-American-Illustration-1881-1938-History/dp/0486242803 and they just called it advertising drawing. Echoes does seem like an appropriate title though, it's pretty frustrating how hard it is to find accurate information about a lot of art, your source even has a conflicting date so I'm not sure what's right.

As for what it was advertising, it could have been anything. I was just looking at ad art on this blog: http://www.graphicine.com/maxfield-parrish-the-present/ and the images are completely irrelevant to what they're selling, lol.
