It's 2.0, I don't know if using a 3.0 does something different or better or if the loading is improved; but this was a little cheaper so I went for it.

USB compatibility is only a major factor if you don't do the resistor bypass mod or don't use a powered hub. If you go the powered hub route, most non-sketchy USB drives should work if they're formatted properly.
