Note: The problem doesn't go away completely. It wasn't until Pie (with my 2 XL) that the disconnect issues finally stopped on my 17 Accord.
using the usb extension with these 1ft type C cables (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07449JMJ5/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) without any issues or disconnects on two XAV-AX5000 units in two different vehicles.
So I didn't believe this because I was using a stock cable straight from the box, but I read on here that swapping it out would solve the problem. Sure enough I bought the one recommended and I've had 0 issues with Android auto. Thought I'd share, here's the link: cables
