I had a series of books as a kid that told stories about famous/influential peoople (ValueTales is what they were called). One of them was about Terry Fox; I always thought his story was the best of them, but found it weird that not really anybody else knew about him (I'm American).

Lots of people don't. I'm 30 this year; in my childhood my parents purchased a series of childrens' books called "The Value Tales" telling stories of various famous historical figures. There's like 30 books in the series, like The Value of Compassion or The Value of Honesty.

Terry Fox is The Value of Facing a Challenge. That's why I know him and his story.

I'm also the youngest of 4 kids, and these books are no longer in print and probably unknown to most people who aren't like 8 years older than me, placing their relevance in the mid-80s.

You can check out the Value Tales there. We still have the whole series. I read them to my 5 year old sometimes.
