I have an alarm keychain that functions as a sort of rape whistle. I pull it, and the loud alarm freaks them out and they run. I highly recommend carrying one.

You're welcome! :) I also wanted to mention that when I was going to college I had a long walk from the classrooms to the parking garage at night. Since you live in an apartment I bet a neighbor would hear this if something were to ever happen! Tasers are super useful but need some training to operate. Alternatively you can use a scary looking as fuck (but actually less dangerous) stun baton.
