Thanks for your post. I think it raises the important issue of what is our calling. An excellent book on this subject is Visions of Vocation: Common Grace for the Common Good by Steven Garber. With the help of that book, I discerned God's calling to leave my career in investment banking and work in the humanitarian sector instead.

Not everyone can easily switch careers, but I think we have more capacity to do so than we realise and if we are going in the right direction, we receive God's encouragement to do so.
