I'm considering returning the foil and buying a real tent, but I'm still waiting for my seeds to show up. I might pick up something like THIS after Christmas as a present to myself. It would keep everything all enclosed and it would look nicer than a giant home made tent from 2x4's.

You could do a space bucket style build if you are lacking space and dont mind some DIY.

But if you want a tent style this is kind of like mine
Tent just used this size as it is standard some companies will make smaller ones.

Lights good for a 2x2 tent

Inline fan exhaust

Booster fan good for air in

Filter wont need this until flower

> I am most concerned with temp and humidity right now, still waiting for my monitoring device.

That's exactly why you need a tent. This 4X8x6.5 tent from Amazon has a footprint of 32 ft^2 and a volume 208 cubic feet. Your basement, on the other hand, has a footprint of 700 ft^2 and a volume of around 5600 cubic feet. Controlling the temperature and humidity inside the entire basement is going to take an epic amount of power and hardware compared to controlling it inside a tent. I'd guess the difference at something like 10-1 in terms of watts. In my opinion, in your situation, a tent is a must.

all of the above posters gave solid advice, so let me throw in a wildcard.

A hydroponic grow tent may be a great solution:

+available in a bunch of sizes

+lightproof

+relatively cheap

+can potentially offer a more dust free environment

+can turn a portion of a room into a darkroom effectively

+can be dissassembled and moved easily

-needs good ventilation to comfortable

-"no seriously, it's fucking Darkroom, not a grow operation", you'll be
saying that a lot
