Take their word for it basically. Unless you can obtain a foreign sim to test as well. A local sim (from at&t or T-Mobile) won't register on local networks, but a foreign sim should with whatever roaming partner it has in the US.

you can order foreign sim cards on ebay or amazon to try for yourself if you want. I usually go with a Vodafone sim.

You can buy pay as you go simcards for literally a penny with free delivery.

You could create new accounts with only the extra effort of waiting for the simcards to arrive at next to no cost.
