Just an RGB modifier pack, 1000+ available on Massdrop for $11, free shipping. Available on Amazon for $9.99 though. Includes keypuller.

Another would be some metallic keys. replace arrow keys or WASD with metallic keys. Really bling the thing up. :D $14 depending on material.

Spruce up the ESC with a novelty key. A really pretty metallic one is like $9. Or pick somewhat funny like PANIC, EJECT, OH **** and so on. Plastic ones are much cheaper. Try Pimpmykeyboard.com

Or order a couple novelty keys. MaxKeyboard.com have regular and backlit ones, usually about $12 to 15 for a pack. Dice, portal, Counterstrike, 12 o'clocks, horoscope, Chinese zodiac...

I don't think you can get the Nyan Cat one in the US. Replaces all the number keys and the backspace key. Really funky looking if you dig that.

Just to follow up on what /u/UsualSuspectXXX said. These are available on Amazon UK and they have white legends unlike in the photos. Let me know if you want me to grab a set and send to you in DE :-)

Yep, decided to go this route. I think the problem was that I was balancing trying to outfit 3 keyboards all at once. I've got some PBT Blanks from ebay on the way that are purely for experimenting with dyes and I think that'll hold me over for a few months (between that, and the GMK > Terminal set).

I think I was also hanging on to wanting to build something custom - and I think having the GMK > Terminal
set, aside from being quite custom will also be great for swapping in some other caps down the road into some interesting combinations.

Overall, quite happy with my decision. My wallet hurts a bit, but there's always more $ to be made.

EDIT: As an aside, this puller which I have ordered seems to come with 1.75u right shift. Not that it matters much now, but I'll have extras on hand which is always good.

Yep. I picked it up on Amazon last week for a secondary computer. Got tired of the awful rubber dome I was using. Just looked today and it's on a lightning deal for $24 so I picked up another one!!

The modifiers are from here, $6.99 for the pack and it comes with a nice keypuller.

I shall add that in the UK you can get them off Amazon too for the price of £9

This is a Cooler Master Quickfire Rapid. It is pretty much the standard for cheap first timer boards. Definitely a solid choice, it is made along side (in the same factory) as some boards that are much more expensive.

The keycaps are white PBT blanks from Max keyboard, and the RGBY mods are made by Vortex, the best cheap PBT keycap manufacturer around.

Check out the wiki in the sidebar, there are buying guides for pretty much every price point.

Hmm, I see. Probably gonna buy MX Brown one since my first keyb was Outemu Blue, and thought it was noisy.
I am guessing these keycaps are going to fit in the board also?: LINK

Considering that most sets under $40 are OEM profile, you could get these vortex mods to go with your any regular sets that you have. I personally will never use RGB mods on my boards, but it's almost impossible to find OEM profile 1.75u Shifts otherwise.

RGB modifier keycaps (picture have black text but you get sent the white text version - that's why this set has a low rating - the keycaps feel solid though so I highly recommend these): http://www.amazon.com/Vortex-Double-Shot-Mechanical-Keyboard-Keycaps/dp/B013KPX9E0/

You can pick up some cheap ABS keycaps here (they don't feel as good as PBT but they feel a heck of a lot better than the OEM keycaps that come with the Quickfire keyboards and they're dirt cheap!): https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1445

Here are the blue/white keycaps which are currently on sale (same price I bought them for): http://www.ebay.com/itm/271608725745

Here you go!.

The board is a Royal Kludge RC930. The base caps are EnjoyPBT Blue-White-Blue dyesub set (stolen from a design by a guy named Matt3o D:) and the modifiers are EnjoyPBT CMYK laser-infilled. Shadovved sold these in a group-buy over at Geekhack, but there are still extras (at a higher price) if you want some. If those are too expensive but you still want some colorful modifiers, you can get Vortex (the company who makes the Pok3r) RGB mods on Amazon for ten bucks.

They used to be for sale on Amazon. At least they were last time I was searching through there for a decent set of keycaps. My dumb ass (well, dumb ass at the time) chose the blue Rosewill doubleshot caps over these.

Anyways, here's the Amazon link, just in case they ever go on sale again:

Also, you could also use these on another board you have, to match your trackball:

For this board:

  1. Pok3r on Amazon

  2. Vortex PBT RBGY Keycaps on Amazon

  3. Use the included keycap puller to pull off the keys you want to swap out with a coloured one.

  4. Push on a coloured one.

These are all Amazon UK links, US might be different :)

I have the same board too and I'm looking into these.

The only thing is I kind of want to try out PBT but the price jump is holding me back.

So, currently I am debating picking up this set for cheap (relative to a full set) to test out how I like PBT.

They're the Taihao Orange Keycaps. The pumpkin escape key I got from Shapeways, and the modifiers I got on Amazon. I can't find the ones with the white legends, but there are some identical ones with black legends for sale

u/falkentyne · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Yes its easy to do. Using the wire pullers is best, as you can put multiple keys in at once, and avoid scratching the switches. Some of the ring pullers have been known to rip the ABS coating off the switches.

BTW the iKBC / Vortex keycap puller iKBC includes in their F boards can pull 5-6 keys out at once.
