Oh my god please don't do a prebuilt from here and not likes Dell prebuilt like someone built it here. You can learn so much but buying the parts, and researching it can be a bonding experience with your son!
anyway lets get this build started!
Idk what you want but for a case that looks super sexy the NZXT S340 would be a good start, cheap and nice.
CASE:NZXT S340 Mid Tower Case CA-S340MB-GR Matte Black/Blue
Note: $74 has it cheaper. (GET THE BLUE AS I MADE IT A BLUE BUILD)
CPU:Intel Core i7-2600 Quad-Core Processor 3.4 GHz 8 MB Cache LGA 1155 - BX80623I72600
Note: $164
MOTHERBOARD: ASUS P8H61-M LE/CSM R2.0 LGA 1155 Intel H61 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
Note: $94
RAM: PNY Anarchy 8GB Kit (2x4GB) DDR3 2133MHz (PC3-17000) CL10 Desktop Memory (BLUE) - MD8GK2D3213310AB-Z
Note: $45
POWER SUPPLY: EVGA 500 W1, 80+ WHITE 500W, 3 Year Warranty, Power Supply 100-W1-0500-KR
Note: $37
GRAPHICS CARD: ASUS ROG STRIX Radeon RX 460 4GB OC Edition AMD Gaming Graphics Card (STRIX-RX460-O4G-GAMING)
Note: $140

TOTAL: $554

Edit 2: As your budget is $600 and I don't know how lenient you are with going over or what, but an Asus RX 470 would be a better graphics card and would increase the total to around $650.

Edit 3:
AFTERMARKET CPU COOLER:Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan (RR-212E-20PK-R2)
Note: $28

Edit 4: If you want peripherals that's gonna be around $1000 in total for decent crap. I would suggest a 1080p 60hz monitor, a mechanical keyboard ( I use a G. Skillz KM780 RGB and it is fabulous), a nice pair of headphones HyperX cloud 2, and a nice set of speakers Logitech Z506. Also idk what you have but get a wifi adapter as well unless you can hook up to Ethernet which is highly recommended.

Edit 5: If any other questions just PM me glad to help you out more.

Edit 6: shit I forgot drives and OS. I'm too tired to link things anymore so I suggest getting a 128gb Samsung PRO SSD for your OS and main shit then get a Seagate 1TB HDD and you're good to go. Hopefully I covered everything.

Honestly 500-600 wouldn't make a very decent computer for a first rig. You can make one and well I made one just right now but that doesn't take into account peripherals. If you wanted 500-600 WITH peripherals that would have been the hardest budget build of my life. To maintain quality and performance, I'm cringing just thinking of it.

Good luck with the xonar trade, but for a mic, [this Zalman] ( is a great option.

Often recommended around here, my roommate and my brother both use one (I use my old PC350 headset) over skype and they always sound great. Brother has it clipped to his headphone cord, and roommate just sits in on his desk and uses speakers. Sound is excellent, and we play LoL for hours almost daily, never having a problem.

u/JimJamieJames · 3 pointsr/hardwareswap

>Had some offers but none went through so dropped down a bit

Likely because it's $118 on Amazon right now? Might take more to entice people to buy from an individual since Amazon has an excellent return policy and free shipping as most people have Prime. Good luck!

u/MajorTokes · 2 pointsr/hardwareswap

I too tried to find good ram on here but it always sold so quick I could never catch it.

Just so you know, Ryzen only gets significant gains up to 2933mhz. Anything over 3000mhz you're only getting a 2-5% increase at best.

If I were you, I'd shoot for some 3000mhz CAS 15 like this Corsair ram for $145

u/captainvelcro1 · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

Just to help out.

A new ryzen 2200g is $80: Here

What I would recommend is a 3200G brand new for $100: Here

A ryzen 2600 retails for $130: Here but you most likely can find it with a serious discount. So if I were you I would go with a 2600 as first choice and then maybe a 3200g. I assume you have a dedicated graphics card?

Also heres a benchmark comparing 3200g vs ryzen 2600: Here. This website takes hundreds of peoples benchmarks and averages them out. You can see the ryzen 2600 tends to be much more balanced.

Thats my advice, cheers, Velcro

u/chaos212 · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

I hope you find a deal but I posted recently looking for the same thing and ended up settling for a Kingston 120GB for $20 on amazon

Good luck.

u/100percentDeplorable · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

Unlikely you'll get genuine Cherry MX keyboards at that range, but in my experience, Outemu has done a solid job with their switches. There are many good deals on Amazon, I like this one -

But if anyone offers you a cherry mx keyboard for $40, I would snap buy it!

u/Calkidmd · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

This redragon mech KB is only $31 rn on amazon. My friend has one of their KB's and says its definetely worth the money

Alternatively, a g710 or g710+ usually go on sale for about $50-$60 and i love mine

u/nosas · 2 pointsr/hardwareswap

I bought this 212 EVO from Amazon and set it up today.

I'm really liking it. Keeps the PC cool, it's fairly silent, and definitely worth the price ($22.50 + tax, free s/h).
It says used because there's damage to packaging, however it's not actually been used.

u/Ejivis · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

Depends if it taxes your state. You could get an AOC G2460PF at Amazon for $200+tax very often. It's $210+tax right now. It is rated 3rd best 1080p 144hz free sync monitor.

u/I_Am_Not_A_Banana · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

I can't remember the exact model, but I think I may have gotten it on sale now that I looked at the prices of their cards.

This car looks good. It's a little pricier but still in your budget. It also has Bluetooth too which is nice to have.

u/cleeerk · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

nothing to sell but this is the best bang for your buck, 144hz, 1 ms response time, 24 inch, and freesync

u/CallMeCygnus · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

I have an Asus VG248QE sitting around here waiting to be sold. It's in great condition. Would like $120 shipped.

u/shinfo44 · 9 pointsr/hardwareswap

If you consider lowering the price on the SSD as well as selling it as a normal SSD, I would consider buying it. Having Windows on a SSD shouldn't really increase its value, in my opinion. Windows Keys are tied to the motherboard, not the drive it lives on. Windows as a software is technically free.

Just for reference, a brand new Kingston 128B SSD on Amazon goes for $22 dollars.

u/Katagon · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

A little out of your budget but this is a solid keyboard for the price (can get it for $36 like new from amazon warehouse). Switches are similar to mx blues/greens.

u/BLToaster · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

So with Ryzen coming out shortly and then Vega this summer I'm looking to sell off my system in its entirety and do a complete rebuild. My current build was pre-built from Cyberpower and while it's been fantastic I'd like to start anew building it myself.

I'm going to be pricing out my current build tonight but wanted to see if any of you had suggestions on how I should price it and if I should sell it off piece by piece or in its entirety. Below are the specs with rough current prices for what they can be found:

u/T0XlCZ · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

Okay, lol.

Just to make sure, is it [this model?]

7200 RPM, 1TB, 3.5"

u/Aarenas52 · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

well she has $90 so far lol but she is trying to save up to $150. i saw used 280x on here for around 125 so hopefully i can catch one. and for the psu i was thinking this one:

u/CapCharlisimo · 2 pointsr/hardwareswap

If you're looking for good headphones for $40, go for these. They're around $50 now, but I got them at $30 so they're bound to go down again. Plus, if you need a mic, just get a cheap clip-on. Sound quality will be much better with headphones + clip-on mic.

u/Solie_DerpWaffel · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

Just gonna leave this here..

SSD’s have really dropped in price, you can get a new 860 evo for $80, or any comparable drive from good manufacturers like crucial for about $60 for a 500gb drive brand new.

u/Dhaniiii · 2 pointsr/hardwareswap

You can buy a brand new Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum with RGB brand new with free shipping on Amazon for $48.48 including tax.

u/Protracturtle · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

If you want something cheap, you can use this mic.

Its what I use on my 598s, though its not the most aesthetically pleasing.

u/CodyMetal · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

Zalman clip on mic from amazon is only $8. It has pretty decent quality. Source: I own one.

Zalman Zm-Mic1 High Sensitivity Headphone Microphone

u/jojojaimster · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

My friend is selling some PC parts and wants to find out how much they would go for:

u/Wowzers44 · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

I was looking for $150 for the monitor, it's less than 4 months old and in perfect condition.

Asus VG248QE 24-inch Full HD Ergonomic Back-lit LED Gaming Monitor

u/Fozman2 · 6 pointsr/hardwareswap

Would you do any better on the SSD's? The 120GB Inland is $25 new on Amazon right now and when cheaper in store with the retailmenot coupon

u/Demonzman · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

Prices of a brand new
GTX 760, specifically this one
and a GTX 770, specifically this one
Thanks so much!

u/Rule33 · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

I would recommend one of these if you don't find anything here you like. I think a modmic would be nicer but this works fine for me:

Zalman Zm-Mic1 High Sensitivity Headphone Microphone

u/CraveJon · 2 pointsr/hardwareswap

probably the lowest input lag monitor out there too. can buy used from amazon for $183. I love it and very worth it.

u/HypotheticalGenius · 2 pointsr/hardwareswap

I have this:

Here are pics:

I've got the 256GB m.2 sata and an additional 500 GB standard HD.

I never realized how much that matte black shows smudges til I took those pictures. Its in good shape other than that though. The only scratches I can see are on the bottom front corner, you can see them in one of the side profile pics. I bought in on March 21, 2016 and haven't had any problems with it since. I just don't need this much power in a laptop.

Unless I’m missing something I believe that WD Blue goes for about 45$ new. I don’t want to sound like I’m price policing but wanted to check in.

u/RobertOnXbox · 0 pointsr/hardwareswap

Worth it if you can fork over an extra $50, comes with 4gb vram on that 960 as well

u/FORTY8pak · 3 pointsr/hardwareswap

Lol another case of seller's remorse? Did you see the ones they have on Amazon now? $21.99 with Prime for a 450W EVGA 80+ bronze

You have to do a lot better than 125 for used ones

u/BDPeck5 · 5 pointsr/hardwareswap

I5 price is steep... Ryzen 5 2600 is cheaper and better

u/Thomas30901 · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

In that wattage range it would be hard to get something better than this once you consider shipping. Plus with the 450BT you won't be limited to GPU's relying on board power. Might be able to snag a GTX 760 close to your price range.

u/Fyre2k20 · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

Not really a "price" check but do you think I could get this laptop + some cash on top for this gaming PC in a trade?

u/Jordaneer · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

as far as I know, I never actually tried it, it uses a PCIe 1x slot for wifi, but a usb 2.0 header for bluetooth to be a generic bluetooth adapter

u/SuPeRMiNoR2 · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

I don't have anything to sell, I just want to point out that you can get this wifi AC and Bluetooth card for $37 from Amazon

u/hiryuux · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

Not in stock for another 6 days, but can't go wrong with a $22 BNIB EVGA 450W BT model.

u/[deleted] · 3 pointsr/hardwareswap

I personally don't have an extra one. But just advice you can grab one for $23 on amazon used if that's within your budget.

u/GhastlyFlanders · 4 pointsr/hardwareswap

The Corsair LPX ram is priced at basically retail, it's 139 on Amazon, and shipping isn't included in your price

If you're prime member, Amazon has a 450 watt unit for under 16 bucks. Not bronze rated efficiency, but it will get your rigs up and running on the cheap.

They also have Kingston 120gb SSD for under 18

You can get both your rigs up and running for under $80 with tax with brand new parts

u/ahh1258 · 6 pointsr/hardwareswap

Hey, just letting you know that you can currently get a brand new 2600 on amazon for less than your asking price.

AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Processor with Wraith Stealth Cooler - YD2600BBAFBOX

u/ihavenolifeee · 7 pointsr/hardwareswap

This is kind of high for used prices, esp without original packaging. The 860s are about 83 usd on amazon.

They often go on sale for less too, ssd prices have been going down lately. EX for 65 USD new with packaging/ebay buyer protection.

u/Dhdbhxjdj · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

For the ram , is it the same one as this
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15 Desktop Memory Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2B3000C15)
If it is , then you might want to change the price of the ram

u/Blackout2388 · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

Steam Link for $19.99

Edit: That is if you want to just buy it outright without trading the Apple TV for it.

u/DarthLego · 16 pointsr/hardwareswap

Might want to reconsider your pricing on the Ryzen 5 1600

u/CareerRejection · 0 pointsr/hardwareswap

Might wanna drop that a big since Amazon has it for 120ish for new. Most folks would want new pads anyhow so it'd be an extra $20-60 depending on quality also.

u/CNLSanders · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

I have a GTX 760 in 60004 so I could get it to you tomorrow.

u/daphillenium · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

Hi I have EVGA 500 W PSU. I'll take some pics in morning.

I had it in a build with an r9270x. I replaced it with a Rosewill capstone 650 because I thought it wasn't enough to power the GPU. But it turned out the GPU was the culprit and I had to RMA that.

35 shipped?

u/kylinblue · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

I'm in Winston Salem, have EVGA 430W and 500W link: . If you think that's not enough I also have a Corsair HX850i. Edit: you offer me.

Heads up man, this is super high for what you have. You can buy 16gb 3000 speed for $58 on Amazon

u/penagwin · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

The first has a 960m, second is a bit cheaper and a 950m (still about as fast as a 860m I beleive), the last is my preferred amount of portability.

u/sammy898 · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

Considering your price...... You can buy this, which has a nvidia 960m gpu for cheaper than what you are asking for....

There are some mech cloneboards on Amazon that'll go as low as the high $20s or $30s, but in the wild (like reddit) you might find a set of keycaps for $20 shipped....

u/HijiCG · 5 pointsr/hardwareswap

Brand new in box means that its unopened and sealed. Just warning you cause I seen a mod get anal about this earlier. Also you may wish to rethink pricing cause I doubt you'll get 50 straight for this if you can buy it new on Amazon for the same price.

u/DownyDoolittle · 2 pointsr/hardwareswap

And i took that into account. Quick google search says 180 CAD (now asking 185 CAD) is $137 USD which is still above amazons price new and still goes with what i said. Unreasonable Price...
