Oh my god please don't do a prebuilt from here and not likes Dell prebuilt like someone built it here. You can learn so much but buying the parts, and researching it can be a bonding experience with your son!
Edit: SORRY IN ADVANCE FOR A WALL OF TEXT!
anyway lets get this build started!
Idk what you want but for a case that looks super sexy the NZXT S340 would be a good start, cheap and nice.
CASE:NZXT S340 Mid Tower Case CA-S340MB-GR Matte Black/Blue https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00T4BWUUY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_wR12xbKDZPNE8
Note: $74 Jet.com has it cheaper. (GET THE BLUE AS I MADE IT A BLUE BUILD)
CPU:Intel Core i7-2600 Quad-Core Processor 3.4 GHz 8 MB Cache LGA 1155 - BX80623I72600 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004EBUXSU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_nT12xb7BECNJC

Note: $140
TOTAL: $554
Edit 2: As your budget is $600 and I don't know how lenient you are with going over or what, but an Asus RX 470 would be a better graphics card and would increase the total to around $650.
Edit 3:
AFTERMARKET CPU COOLER:Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan (RR-212E-20PK-R2) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005O65JXI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_E-12xbR7ZCHBK
Note: $28
Edit 4: If you want peripherals that's gonna be around $1000 in total for decent crap. I would suggest a 1080p 60hz monitor, a mechanical keyboard ( I use a G. Skillz KM780 RGB and it is fabulous), a nice pair of headphones HyperX cloud 2, and a nice set of speakers Logitech Z506. Also idk what you have but get a wifi adapter as well unless you can hook up to Ethernet which is highly recommended.
Edit 5: If any other questions just PM me glad to help you out more.
Edit 6: shit I forgot drives and OS. I'm too tired to link things anymore so I suggest getting a 128gb Samsung PRO SSD for your OS and main shit then get a Seagate 1TB HDD and you're good to go. Hopefully I covered everything.
Honestly 500-600 wouldn't make a very decent computer for a first rig. You can make one and well I made one just right now but that doesn't take into account peripherals. If you wanted 500-600 WITH peripherals that would have been the hardest budget build of my life. To maintain quality and performance, I'm cringing just thinking of it.
Good luck with the xonar trade, but for a mic, [this Zalman] (http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Zm-Mic1-Sensitivity-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B00029MTMQ) is a great option.
Often recommended around here, my roommate and my brother both use one (I use my old PC350 headset) over skype and they always sound great. Brother has it clipped to his headphone cord, and roommate just sits in on his desk and uses speakers. Sound is excellent, and we play LoL for hours almost daily, never having a problem.
>Had some offers but none went through so dropped down a bit
Likely because it's $118 on Amazon right now? Might take more to entice people to buy from an individual since Amazon has an excellent return policy and free shipping as most people have Prime. Good luck!
I too tried to find good ram on here but it always sold so quick I could never catch it.
Just so you know, Ryzen only gets significant gains up to 2933mhz. Anything over 3000mhz you're only getting a 2-5% increase at best.
If I were you, I'd shoot for some 3000mhz CAS 15 like this Corsair ram for $145
Just to help out.
A new ryzen 2200g is $80: Here
What I would recommend is a 3200G brand new for $100: Here
A ryzen 2600 retails for $130: Here but you most likely can find it with a serious discount. So if I were you I would go with a 2600 as first choice and then maybe a 3200g. I assume you have a dedicated graphics card?
Also heres a benchmark comparing 3200g vs ryzen 2600: Here. This website takes hundreds of peoples benchmarks and averages them out. You can see the ryzen 2600 tends to be much more balanced.

Thats my advice, cheers, Velcro
I hope you find a deal but I posted recently looking for the same thing and ended up settling for a Kingston 120GB for $20 on amazon
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N6JQS8C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_JI52Cb4WVG7DE
Good luck.
Unlikely you'll get genuine Cherry MX keyboards at that range, but in my experience, Outemu has done a solid job with their switches. There are many good deals on Amazon, I like this one - https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1499847711&sr=8-3&keywords=mechanical+keyboard
But if anyone offers you a cherry mx keyboard for $40, I would snap buy it!
Go check out Amazon. They have a deal for a free sync monitor at like $200. It's 1080p, 144hz and it has free sync technology!

This redragon mech KB is only $31 rn on amazon. My friend has one of their KB's and says its definetely worth the money
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B016MAK38U/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1510026515&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=reddragon+mechanical&dpPl=1&dpID=41j-vKWKFfL&ref=plSrch
Alternatively, a g710 or g710+ usually go on sale for about $50-$60 and i love mine
I bought this 212 EVO from Amazon and set it up today.
I'm really liking it. Keeps the PC cool, it's fairly silent, and definitely worth the price ($22.50 + tax, free s/h).
It says used because there's damage to packaging, however it's not actually been used.
Depends if it taxes your state. You could get an AOC G2460PF at Amazon for $200+tax very often. It's $210+tax right now. It is rated 3rd best 1080p 144hz free sync monitor.
https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1523307116&sr=8-1&keywords=reddragon+keyboard+mechanical

That's all you need to get. No shipping hassle, covered by amazon. It's a pretty good mouse and keyboard :)
I can't remember the exact model, but I think I may have gotten it on sale now that I looked at the prices of their cards.
This car looks good. It's a little pricier but still in your budget. It also has Bluetooth too which is nice to have.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HF8K0O6/?tag=pcpapi-20
nothing to sell but this is the best bang for your buck, 144hz, 1 ms response time, 24 inch, and freesync
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BV1XBEI/?tag=pcpapi-20&th=1
I have an Asus VG248QE sitting around here waiting to be sold. It's in great condition. Would like $120 shipped.
EVGA GeForce GTX 760 Super Clocked ACX 2GB GDDR5 SLI Ready Graphics Card
you could get the reddragon keyboard from amazon. I heard its really good and you can get like a dollar warranty.
https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1519020365&sr=8-1&keywords=reddragon+keyboard+mechanical
If you consider lowering the price on the SSD as well as selling it as a normal SSD, I would consider buying it. Having Windows on a SSD shouldn't really increase its value, in my opinion. Windows Keys are tied to the motherboard, not the drive it lives on. Windows as a software is technically free.
Just for reference, a brand new Kingston 128B SSD on Amazon goes for $22 dollars.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N6JQS8C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_bxLQDbH6T0QXV
A little out of your budget but this is a solid keyboard for the price (can get it for $36 like new from amazon warehouse). Switches are similar to mx blues/greens.
https://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Zm-Mic1-Sensitivity-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B00029MTMQ
these are pretty good for the price, been using one for years
So with Ryzen coming out shortly and then Vega this summer I'm looking to sell off my system in its entirety and do a complete rebuild. My current build was pre-built from Cyberpower and while it's been fantastic I'd like to start anew building it myself.
I'm going to be pricing out my current build tonight but wanted to see if any of you had suggestions on how I should price it and if I should sell it off piece by piece or in its entirety. Below are the specs with rough current prices for what they can be found:
I believe that is everything I'd include as I would remove my HDD, SDD.
Thanks!
Okay, lol.
Just to make sure, is it [this model?]
7200 RPM, 1TB, 3.5"
I got a 650W EVGA Gold 80+ Fully Modular PSU - http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-Continuous-Warranty-120-G1-0650-XR/dp/B00K85X2AW?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00

I agree, DEFINITELY check the amazon psu deal
well she has $90 so far lol but she is trying to save up to $150. i saw used 280x on here for around 125 so hopefully i can catch one. and for the psu i was thinking this one:
http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Continuous-Warranty-Supply-100-W1-0500-KR/dp/B00H33SFJU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1452641365&sr=8-1&keywords=evga+500w
If you're looking for good headphones for $40, go for these. They're around $50 now, but I got them at $30 so they're bound to go down again. Plus, if you need a mic, just get a cheap clip-on. Sound quality will be much better with headphones + clip-on mic.
Parting my way with my desktop and moving onto a laptop as I need more portability. I would very much appreciate your help price checking these items.

I never realized how much that matte black shows smudges til I took those pictures. Its in good shape other than that though. The only scratches I can see are on the bottom front corner, you can see them in one of the side profile pics. I bought in on March 21, 2016 and haven't had any problems with it since. I just don't need this much power in a laptop.

Ryzen 5 2600 is $160 new on amazon
There are some mech cloneboards on Amazon that'll go as low as the high $20s or $30s, but in the wild (like reddit) you might find a set of keycaps for $20 shipped....
Brand new in box means that its unopened and sealed. Just warning you cause I seen a mod get anal about this earlier. Also you may wish to rethink pricing cause I doubt you'll get 50 straight for this if you can buy it new on Amazon for the same price.
And i took that into account. Quick google search says 180 CAD (now asking 185 CAD) is $137 USD which is still above amazons price new and still goes with what i said. Unreasonable Price...
