It's a Wacom drawing tablet.

If I was to guess which model, it would be this one. It looks like a specialty stylus, however.

So, um...

  1. Totally obvious about using a sketchpad instead of trying to touch the screen. Isn't that tech we have today? The Wacom Intuos4 line of tablets is available today, and work pretty darn well.

  2. The picture at the end where they have a tablet built INTO a keyboard is dumb as hell. You've got a multi-touch tablet, make it the keyboard too! Just divide it into squares and make each square a letter. Print a picture of where each key is on the top of the pad.

To switch between keyboard and touch mode, just have a very lightweight switch where the outside edge of the hand rests.

  3. The global/context menu idea is neat, but I wouldn't put it at the far left/far right of the pad. Put it under the left and right thumb, basically a split space-bar.

  4. I'd want a faster way to switch between windows. Because switching between windows would be less frequent than interacting with the application, I would put this function on the left hand. I would use a chord-like movement for this. Hold down your left thumb, and then tap with one of your left-hand fingers to go to the corresponding window.

Good though the ideas are, these guys don't, in general, seem to understand Fitt's Law. They need to understand that the less movement, the better. The easiest pixel to find, is the same one that your pointer is currently at!

There was a performance boost on my netbook, using the atom build. Not much, but noticable.

O, and I just remembered another goodwill find. I got a Wacom Intuos 3 9x12 for less the $3
