I used to have this battery operated Waterpik. Might be difficult to replace batteries one-handed, but it's easy to use one-handed. I don't recall it requiring assembly.
Be careful. The battery compartment has been know to leak and the battery juice then gets in the water compartment.

Yeah, I would definitely talk to your dentist. Mine told me to get a regular $2 bottle of hydrogen peroxide from CVS. Some people mix in mouthwash or a combo of peroxide and mouthwash. My gums used to constantly bleed when I flossed, but didn't bleed from using the Waterpik. The Waterpik seemed to be gentler, but also more thorough. After using the Waterpik with peroxide for a few weeks, my gums no longer bleed when I use string floss.
I bought this rechargeable Waterpik, mainly because the regular one takes up too much space on the counter and needs to always be plugged in. The regular version has like 10 different intensity settings, whereas mine just has high and low, but it doesn't matter to me.
