So, the only way to make those zipties safe for anyone, is to use flush cutters. I've worked in too many tight spaces where a single ziptie does more damage than a knife.

No....... Wrong... Twisting them can over tighten them and can still leave sharp corners. Trim the ends with a small pair of flush cutters, or telco shears if you're pro.

Xcelite 170m for anything thinner than 14awg. For everything thicker, ChannelLock 337's

The Xcelite's are my favourite. You can feel when you've gotten through insulation and are touching copper before cutting through it.

It was this pair https://www.amazon.ca/Xcelite-170M-General-Shearcutter-Diagonal/dp/B0002BBZIS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1478968368&sr=8-2&keywords=cutters . They snapped while i was cutting a piece out of the runner. I got a pair of diagonal cutting pliers from Canadian Tire to finish the job, they were slightly less maneuverable , but much more durable.
