I had a wacom intuos (medium) for about 5 years, and even with many attempts to get used to looking at a screen while sketching on a tablet (not directly on the screen like a Cintiq) I could never get the hang of it. It's fine to do quick sketches of figures or portraits but when it comes to isometric sketching/3d sketching it's terrible. No way to see your vanishing points or linework so something as simple as drawing a wheel in perspective is a nearly impossible task due to not seeing a reference point in relation to the stylus.

This is a wacom cintiq knockoff, I'll avoid doing a review on it and keep it simple. In one night of playing with a monitor tablet I have revived my sketching hobby. Being to busy to bust out the oils and canvas or a 24inch sketch pad and the sharpener etc has made me avoid art for literally years and this tablet is a saving grace for me knowing not nurturing my creative side has negative side-effects to my daily life. So would I recommend a full monitor tablet even though the price is outrageous... yes I would. For me it's the difference between not sketching at all or sketching digitally at the drop of the hat with no setup or cleanup, which is priceless when you think about it. The actual tablet I bought has many quirks though, and I may end up returning it and saving up for a proper cintiq (price difference is... are you ready... $800 Canadian for this chinese knockoff vs .... $2800.00 Canadian for a genuine wacom of the same size.... I'm very conflicted.

Drivers can be a huge pain with these non-wacom tablets. You should search through their review pages on amazon and find out if the tablets will work nicely with your OS and art software first, instead of running into issues after purchasing. My guess is the Huion will be better in this regard, being a more established brand.
A lot of these Chinese tablet companies source the exact same hardware and just brand them differently. In that case, you want to pick the one with best customer and software support. For example, the XP Pen Artist22, Ugee 21.5 and Huion GT220 are all essentially the same thing.
I wouldn't worry about thickness or how clunky the tablets are. Neither of them are standalone units and will never leave your desk. If you feel like you'll be moving it around your desk a lot, there are lots of nice monitor arms you can get.

I use this and I really like it. If portability is a thing, I probably wouldn't mess with a standalone drawing tablet. It stays on my desk so its perfect for me, and the pressure sensitivity is DEFINITELY something I require, and it's fantastic on this tablet.
