I put together a black eye with shimmery teal, just to practice the look for an upcoming event. I took pictures along the way because I might as well make a walkthrough for you guys. :)

Forgive the occasional pink lighting. I have a grow light next to me for my succulents and didn't realize it showed up in the photos.

Product list:

Skin:

Missha BB Cream, No. 13 Milky Beige.

Graftobian Light Corrector Wheel.

Tony Moly Cats Wink powder, Clear.

Eyes:

Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy (a clear glitter glue)

W7 In The Nude eyeshadow palette, lightest shade on the far left.

Wet N Wild Comfort Zone eyeshadow palette, duochrome shade.

NYX Primal Colors, Hot Black.

Wet N Wild Megalast Liquid Catsuit Eyeshadow, Cosmic Teal.

Ulta Amped Lashes mascara, Jet Black.

L'Oreal Paris Infallible 24HR Lacquer Intense Gel Eyeliner (oof what a long name), Blackest Black.

Brushes:

Coastal Scents Classic Shadow Brush, small natural. (I have like a million of these inexpensive little brushes for detail work so I don't have to clean between colors.)

A few pretty non-descript thin, flat eyeshadow brushes.

Three fluffy kabuki brushes from a set like this. (Kabuki set chosen randomly, these sets are all over Amazon.)

Real Techniques stippling brush.

All right sweaties, ARE YOU READY FOR THIS!??

ONE: Bare-assed, veiny eye so you all can see what we're starting with.

TWO: Applied Missha BB cream all over.

THREE: Liquid concealer dotted around the inner and outer corner. Blended out using my fingers.

FOUR: I applied the center salmon color from the color correcting wheel to the blue areas around my eye. Be sure to apply this only where you need it. Pinky salmon over normal skin looks weird. Also, if you apply concealer all over, it will just accentuate the discoloration. With eye bags, only put the concealer where it needs to go! Blend out cream products like this using a stippling brush so you don't accidentally buff it away.

FIVE: HERE COMES THE COLOR! Apply any nude shadow that matches your skintone all around your eye, leaving the lid bare: Brow bone, inner corner, outer corner, lower lid. Apply the duochrome above your natural eye crease and then bring the color down over the crease for later blending purposes. Note that I extended the upper crease shadow inward a little and angled the shadow inward as I added more. You want to keep your inner corner as clean as you can when you're about to work with severe colors like black. I chose this duochrome shade because the red-brown base will blend well with the black and the green shift will compliment the shimmery teal.

SIX: Dot the clear glitter glue onto the center of your lid and spread a THIN layer of it only where the black eyeshadow will go. I chose glitter glue for this because its sticky formula will grab onto a lot more of the eyeshadow, which will give you a big color payoff. Using your finger, pack the color onto your center lid, up to your natural eye crease. This part doesn't have to be pretty so don't be concerned about making clean lines. Do, however, make sure you keep the color off your inner corner.

SEVEN: Using a clean, fluffy brush, gently blend the crease using back-and-forth windshield wiper motions. You do not want to press hard and mash your brush into your eye. You want to blend with the tip of your brush fibers. Take as much time as you need for this part. Blending is what takes the most time with any eyeshadow look.

EIGHT: Using a small, flat detail brush (the coastal scents one I linked), apply a little more black to the inner and outer colors to define the shape of your eye a little better. TAP THE EXCESS FROM YOUR BRUSH. I cannot overstate this. If you don't tap off the excess, the black will fall onto your face, and you will cry. Blend outer corner with a clean fluffy brush, using gentle, small, circular motions. Blend inner corner with a small, clean, flat detail brush, using a flicking motion: Place brush on inner corner, swipe/flick inward toward the black, repeat this motion until it's blended.

NINE: Using a small detail brush, apply duochrome shade from Comfort Zone along lower lid.

TEN: Using a small, flat detail brush, apply the black shadow to the lower lid by pressing it into your lash line. Use a clean, fluffy brush to blend (you see why I have a million little brushes now?), using windshield wiper motions. Do not over-blend this or it will look muddy.

ELEVEN: Apply mascara and any necessary eyeliner now so your eyelashes don't get gunked up with the liquid eyeshadow. If you have dark lashes, you probably won't need eyeliner with this look. But, as I have polar bear translucent stubs, I needed some to cross the bridge between my lashes and my lid rim.

O LAWT ANOTHER ONE: Apply a moderate amount of the shimmery teal liquid eyeshadow from the inner corner to the center of your lid. Using a clean, flat brush, gently smooth out the liquid shadow and blend it out past the center line a little. There should be no liquid shadow near the outer corner of the lid. Do not press hard during this step or you'll drag the black eyeshadow beneath and create a hole, and then you will cry and swear off dark looks for the rest of eternity.

ARE WE THERE YET: Dress up your eyebrows however you want.

Congratulations! You are finally done! Hooray!

NOW WRECK THAT SHIT.

For the curious, here is an album with a few extra pictures in it.
