I know this is random but I have a newborn as well and the first few times we gave him a bath, he cried bloody murder. Our friend saw a picture my wife posted of him in the bath, crying of course, and she suggested buying a towel that goes on their chest to keep them warm so we bought it. He now loves bath time. Just something to consider if your newborn isn’t the best at bath time!

Here is the one we have!

I wear only a tank top when washing my face at the sink. Put on cleansing oil, rub it in then wet one of these Bamboo washcloths for babies, they are super soft! Swipe all over face, neck and chest.
Cleanse with gel cleanser then do the same with the washcloths. I repeat until all the soap is gone.
These wash cloths are so soft that they don’t irritate my skin. I love them so much that I bought bath sheets and face towel as well.

I love my boppy, my LO is 11 weeks and I’ve used it for breastfeeding every day. He also does tummy time on it because he hates laying on a flat surface and hangs out lounging on it. I get so much use out of this thing. It’s one of my favorite purchases. Boppy Nursing Pillow and Positioner, Sketch Slate Gray https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075GLC4RK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ow2VCb8AT517E

If you’re gonna BF, instead of getting disposable pads I got these washable ones which are velour on the inside so they’re soft on your nipples, and they are good at absorption. They have different shapes for different amounts of protection, I wouldn’t get any of them except the blue rounds “overnight” ones because they are the most absorbable. This baby tub is awesome because it folds flat (i live in a NYC apt and space is very dear!) and it also has a little hammock so you don’t have to hold the baby the whole time he’s bathing. My baby loves this mobile. It’s super engaging. Tiny Love Classic Mobile, Into The Forest https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0771N1BZW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_kB2VCbHCM9BJE

Baby is OBSESSED with this toy. We have it hanging over his changing table and he lays there and stares at it forever. It’s his absolute favorite thing. I’m serious. The only thing is I read that the ink on the eyes smear off if they put it in their mouth so I don’t plan on giving it to him to hold/play with but just as a distraction while he’s getting his diaper changed. But seriously he never gets tired of looking at it and it was the first thing that made him happy when he started being aware and I really recommend it. My 2 1/2 year old gets a “bath” every night as part of bedtime routine but usually only really bathe him twice a week or as needed depending on how dirty he got that day. Our almost 2 month old I’m bathing twice a week not really on any specific days - but definitely on days she has big blow out poops - I have a bath linked below that I use on countertop on the edge of the sink in the kitchen. I set a towel on the counter for cushion and then her baby towel laid out on top ready to wrap her in - we used this with my son too and when he got a little more playful we set it in he bottom of the tub without the lower tray attached and then when he could sit up in his own just went to the tub without anything and had non slip grip things on bottom of tub. We just had a few inches of water in tub then.

How about one of those tub partitions? There's this one on Amazon, though it has some mixed reviews. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N7T6THZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_w9B6CbS4DEZXJ

I used a blooming bath lotus inside of a laundry basket until she could sit up, then I switched to this inflatable tub. She's 1 and we are still using the tub every day! The inflatable saddle horn was really nice because as soon as she could sit supported she was able to use the tub. I wasn't a big fan of the lotus thing but it has good reviews so maybe that was just me.
My biggest tip for small showers is to get a hook that you can use to hang the tub from! I got these adhesive ones and they have been holding strong for months. I hang it from the little drain hole in the tub. It is sooo much nicer having the tub up and out of the way when we want to shower. Out of curiosity, why would you put the baby tub outside of the shower? I keep it inside the shower. It will be very hard to drain and you will probably get water everywhere if you keep it outside of the shower!

My little girl just got her 5th tooth today! So far, this scalp brush thingy is her favorite thing gnaw on when a tooth is coming in. I also freeze breast milk into popsicles and she enjoys that too! I’m sure formula would work the same! Sometimes she likes to chew on a cold washcloth as well.

You want both boppy's- you're good.

Mam pacifiers seem to be really popular- add a pack of those.

I loved earth momma nipple butter, I also recommend their calendula oil!

I recommend Natemia hooded towels- they are absorbent and large enough for my toddler. The rest are garbage and I use them for makeup towels now.

Throw one of these on there- this one I found was easiest for both kids- some of these cups have really stiff lids, not this one though.

Zutano booties! Kind of pricey but stay on so well, and hold up- I think mine have been through 3 kids (hand me downs) and are still going strong!

Avancy plates and bowls are BY FAR the best at staying suctioned- babies love to throw their plates and bowls off high chairs. Since they are a little pricier, a perfect shower gift!

Throw some plain ol' aquaphor on there, and some books (babies are boring, its nice to read to them) and you are all set!

I've got a couple of wild heathens (1.5yr old boys) and baths aren't as difficult as I had originally expected. It takes a bit of strength and swiftness to get both into the bath at the same time, but there are a few key things we do to pull it off.

If two parents are present, one focuses on the bath and the other focuses on laying out towels, PJ's and diapers. We also try to keep all of the nearby doors closed so they can't run out of the bathroom dripping wet into other parts of the house.

The key is to be fast and keep them distracted.

- Water temperature should be slightly cold or lukewarm. They hate warm water.

- We fill the bathtub with water toys like rubber ducks and a bath pipe toy set.

- The kneepad/elbow rest makes it so much easier to kneel down at their level.

- We mix their body wash with water and put inside of a foamer so that foam instantly comes out. Literally saving a few seconds to worry about lathering has proven to be valuable.

- Although it's kind-of crazy, I put foam on both heads and use both of my hands simultaneously to wash their hair (multitasking!). We also put foam on their chests and they think it's funny to help and rub it in themselves.

- Baby burrito! The washing parent hands one child to the prepping parent for drying off. Repeat.

And for the bigger things, you can usually find ones that fold up or are collapsible. I know there are swings and bouncers that can be folded when not in use. For bathtubs, there are ones like the Puj, that fit in the sink and can fold up when not in use, there are ones shaped like flowers that do the same, there are inflatable ones (though I don't think those are recommended for newborns), and I have a Fisher Price one that has a hook on one end so I can just hang it in the shower when it's not being used.

I live in an apartment, and almost everything I've bought can be folded up or is otherwise easy to store. It's totally doable.

these are the exact plugs I used You just smush them in until they form a seal. Super comfortable, never came out, and did their job!

I brought a small quick dry towel Not super sure how you would go about it otherwise, unless you dry with dirty clothes? Albergues don't provide towels.

You might not need a sleeping bag! I can't speak from experience, but it seems like it's hot enough in the summer that many people use sleeping bag liners just fine. I used a 50 degree sleeping bag in October and had it unzipped many nights. Don't rely on albergue blankets though... bleh

Thanks for bolding that! Appreciate it much.

Also, baby wash cloths Are great. The little square ones made of microfiber material on one side and smooth on the other.

muselin ones would be wonderful! — wishlist ;)

I didn't even know these existed so thank you for bringing them up! Obviously haven't used them either but I have used the Johnson & Johnson soothing vapor wash when she gets really congested which I liked.
