You could just get something like this.

Seconding the faucet extender suggestion. But highly reccomend the duck/shark two pack instead.

u/novapeon · 9 pointsr/whatisthisthing

It's a faucet extender (so little kids can reach the water when washing their hands). Like the other poster said, the brand is Prince Lionheart.

We gave up trying to make him sit in the tub around 11 months. We got a suction bath mat and a faucet cover and let him do his thing.

u/ButtSprite · 8 pointsr/daddit

You're right to be worried, I fixed these to all our lids so they can't be opened by little hands.

Got it in one. OP, I think this is the one you have.

u/triplehelix013 · 7 pointsr/homedefense

Alarm systems and Ring doorbells are reactive rather than proactive. They help the bad guys get caught after they break into your home and steal your stuff or injure/kill the occupants.

You want to be proactive. My 2 main focuses would be the following:

  1. Make it difficult for someone to get into your apartment.
  2. Give yourself the means to protect yourself if your apartment is breached.

Things to think about for Main focus 1 (security):

As far as making it difficult for someone to get into your apartment, having the appearance of a hard target will help. Beware of dog signs are supposedly effective for homes, I don't know how they work for apartments. May be worth researching.

How secure is your door? How deep do the screws go into the door frame on the bolt? If it is less than 3 inches replace them. Consider a door jam, I don't have one of these yet but have heard great things about their effectiveness of resisting doors getting kicked in. Obviously won't help while you are out but is great for when you are inside.

How secure/reachable are your windows? Is it feasible that someone could get to your window with or without a ladder? Secure your windows as best you can. I am a fan of security screens for windows but on an apartment I doubt you are going to want to install those.

Do you have a balcony? How secure is the door/slider? If it is a door consider a door jam like for the front door. If it is a slider then make sure you have a security bar. Glass is a weakpoint, I like security screens as for windows, but if not an option security film may be.

Things to think about for Main focus 2 (defense):

I saw in a previous comment you are not comfortable having a gun in your house. I would suggest you get comfortable with it. A firearm is the most effect tool to use in self defense because it is a distance tool. It can be used to stop a threat before they get within range to do lethal damage. Also it is not uncommon for armed robbers to be equipped with stolen firearms themselves and you will be left at their mercy praying they are just thieves and not murderers. If you do decide to get a firearm to protect yourself and your home get some training. A good instructor will make you comfortable with firearm safety and help you develop good practices early to be safe and effective with a firearm. I realize you might not want to consider this option and it is your right to choose whatever you feel comfortable with but I wanted to mention it anyway.

Non-firearm defense tools you could utilize is flashlights, pepper spray, blunt objects (as lethal as firearms but not as effective for self defense), sharp objects (also as lethal and less effective), stun guns (can be effective against weak willed opponents).

Personally I always have a 800 Lumen flashlight, knife, and pepper spray on my body. In my home and car I also keep a 1000 lumen flashlight and large fixed blade knives. Although I would hope to never be in such a fight for my life that I have exhausted all my firearms and have to use them.

I would highly recommend you get a bright flashlight you are comfortable carrying with you and pepper spray. A bright flashlight can be blinding in low light, if you have to deploy it shine it in their eyes and use that opportunity to see what is in their hands. Pepper spray is not very effective against determined attackers but may be enough to buy you some time to escape.

You may also want to look into a stun gun to use when walking the dog to deploy if the pepper spray fails to stop your assailant. I have two flashlight/stungun combos for walking the dog.

You only get one life, when it comes time to act or die; act with everything you got and the tools you have available to yourself at that time. Hopefully you will never have to deploy those defense tools but keeping them handy could be the difference between a long life and one that ends that afternoon.

    Good luck and stay safe

How about a bath sponge? You just put it in the sink or tub so it's comfortable and non-slip.

u/jinkiesfreddy · 6 pointsr/Parenting

You should probably ask the apartments first what their policy is on drilling. Ours allowed us to drill just as long as we patch it up when we leave and it costs nothing to patch up the holes.

This safety latch is something we’re looking at when our toddler gets older. cardinal safety

also some more recommendations if that one doesn’t work here

u/nkofferman · 6 pointsr/Parenting

After terrible twos comes threenagers. It’s like two’s, but they have intent. It’s equally maddening.

Is she starting preschool this fall? If so, that may help a lot. Our preschool worked a lot on patience and taking turns talking, and it showed at home pretty quickly. It won’t get better overnight, but it’ll help.

There’s a parenting strategy called Love & Logic that worked well for us. It sounds like you’re doing many of the core ideas, but it there may be some helpful tips on methods you haven’t tried yet that may click better for her. It also helps differentiate between behaviors that are good (green light), annoyances (yellow light), and dangerous acts like hitting (red light), and scaling your response appropriately so she gets it.

Specifically on the sink spraying, consider something like this:

Faucet Extender

It brings the water out closer but also lowers the pressure, so she’ll have less opportunity to spray it everywhere.

Last, if you feel like you’re just done with her shit, see if there’s any way you can get away for a night or two with just the wife before the new baby arrives. I realize not everyone has easy options for this, but it can be a huge mental recharge if you can arrange it.

Best wishes, hang in there!

I'd say use whatever works! Personally i never used baby tubs but really liked the sponge thing you can sit or lay baby on. Kinda like this: https://www.amazon.com/Summer-Infant-Comfy-Bath-Sponge/dp/B000H953Y2

We have this and it works great! Baby Bath Visor and Shower Cap for Toddlers - For Shower Safety from Water Foam Hair Wash and Eye Ear Protection Shield - Adjustable Head with Waterproof and Soft Non Irritant EVA Material https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074G3G97M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_R7xWBb00D15AK

Just got a few of these nifty little guys because Youngest is an escape artist and Middle has interrupted the sexy times on FAAAR too many occasions!

Although the, if the door opens outwardly (also why the FUCK would he do that?!), maybe this would be better...

Most of my friends do this!

If your baby is really fussy about water on his face, some of my friends use this: https://www.amazon.com/Baby-Shower-Shampoo-Visor-Bath/dp/B002JH7NXO

u/dirkdastardly · 2 pointsr/AskParents

My daughter had the same problem. She grew out of it before I found out about products like these, or I would have bought one:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CP4QQJN/ref=sspa_dk_detail_3?psc=1

Have a poke around Amazon; there are a lot of similar products, but the general idea is the same—they shield your kid’s face while you rinse their hair.

u/Imageekswife · 2 pointsr/beyondthebump

https://www.amazon.com/Summer-Infant-Comfy-Bath-Sponge/dp/B000H953Y2

We use it in our regular bath. The water soaks into the sponge keeping baby warm. They can stretch out. Best of all your baby stays put (until they can roll etc.)

It is a sink faucet extender for kids. Example

My daughter is four and figured out the door handle covers a long time ago. We use this lock (and I set the house security alarm) Cardinal Gates Door Guardian, White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004RL1IMC/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_0kPHub1H6X6XQ

My mom suggested this bath sponge and it has worked great so far!

u/cgsf · 2 pointsr/Buyingforbaby

The first few baths, I used a baby bath sponge (about $5-$10). It was so great! I used it in both the sink and the tub with no problem at all. Now, however, we have started just all showering together, so we just hold him; or when I take a bath, I just bring him in with me.

u/aka_____ · 2 pointsr/beyondthebump

When we’re both home we just shower with her. Usually FH showers her now because she’s over 25 lbs and I couldn’t do it anymore without my arm cramping up by the end. I’ve gotten muscle spasms before and I’m worried I’d get one while holding her and drop her.

If I’m alone I also shower with her, but I put her in her bath seat on the floor on the far end from the shower head. I spray her with water every so often cuz she loves it. And every couple minutes hand her a different bath toy from the collection to keep her interested in staying still.

One thing that helps her from sliding off the seat (this one by angelcare), is that I added one of (these big flat sponges) to give her some more “grippiness” it works really well. It’s kinda annoying to have to set it up somewhere to dry thoroughly but it’s well worth the annoyance.

My husbands toddler used to freak out the exact same way. Mostly triggered by hair washing. He was around 2-3 and we bought him one of these off of Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XD6ZMX2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_XpsQBbCXGADHT . It did wonders. I was mad at myself for waiting so long to spend $7 on something that turned our nightly battle into a compliant and easy task. Throw some water safe toys in, and all’s good. By 4 he started taking showers and he outgrew the majority of the hair washing fear. Trial and error, but I’d invest in one of these water blockers for sure.

This rubber adapter looks like it might fit around a waterfall-type tap: Munchkin Faucet Extender 2 Piece Set, Grey https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MB5PTNG/

But then you’re left with a lower/slower (but still a) waterfall

u/bigballer2k · 1 pointr/HomeKit

Do u have an Apple Watch? I’ve gotten to where I simply raise my wrist and say “Hey Siri, I’m Home” as I’m pulling up and after a few seconds it will run the scene and unlock the door for me without me having to fumble around with or unlocking the phone. That’s the easiest way I know of doing it outside of setting up an automation which would require me to confirm it by unlocking the phone.

I bought the Schlage sense on its release day a few years ago and it used to be where u could set up an automation that would unlock the door without confirmation but it’s been changed for a while where it requires it; in all honesty, I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing as I had a pretty eye opening situation happen early on where the signal didn’t go thru to the lock initially so I unlocked it manually with the keypad and at some point hours later the signal was received and unlocked the door around 2am when I was already in bed asleep. And this was before I fully knew the Schlage settings so I hadn’t yet set it to auto relock after a few minutes of unlocking so basically I was unaware until the next morning that the door was unlocked they entire night.

After that, I deleted the automation until I felt the bugs were worked out and ended up buying a door guardian that can only be locked from the inside of the house and acts as a secondary deadbolt but would still keep the door locked physically even if the Schlage somehow became unlocked again.

I used the shower visor linked above on my DD. I played it up as a special showering hat that she only gets to wear in the bath. It worked for a good period of time. After she turned 2.5 I think we didn't need to use it anymore. She understands to raise her head (I usually ask her to look at the light) and pour water on her hair only.
There are also these cups that have a silicone material on the front to protect their face as you rinse them. I'm not sure if they are sold in stores, link below:

Something more like these?

TooGoo

SC Rinse Cup

Larger (2.5 gallon)

Do any of those fit the bill?

Just get one of these. They're for kids to reach the water, but they'd work here too.

Honestly, I wish I'd known about these when my child was in the "scared of water" phase.

We got one of those sponge things that seems to help. I get in with him and nurse him when he gets crabby. I think my baby just hates being naked. He hates getting diaper changes and changing clothes. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000H953Y2/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?qid=1458024281&sr=8-1&keywords=baby+bath+sponge&pi=SY200_QL40

I used one of these in the bathtub but you could use it in the shower for him to sit or lay. It's like $6 at Target or Babies R Us. http://www.amazon.com/Summer-Infant-Comfy-Bath-Sponge/dp/B000H953Y2

[summer infant bath sponge](Summer Infant Comfy Bath Sponge https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000H953Y2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Tdr7ybCW5R0BC)

These bath sponges. Easy to travel with, lay in the tub, set it in the sink. Comfy for baby, easy to wring out and store. Loved them.

u/MrsStephsasser · 1 pointr/beyondthebump

We love this tub too! We also use this sponge to help stabilize her, since she is not sitting up yet:

Yes! I actually have the same one (love it!) and found that I needed a bigger foam insert to keep my baby upright during bath time. Just a friendly suggestion :)
