I used Camelbak Marathon. Enough pockets to carry my gear and more than enough volume to carry me to each aid station this race.

I have one by Mountain Hardwear that is 34L. This is the newer model. Its a single compartment. the back was stiff and there was a section for a laptop. There is a top compartment for quick access.

its a very simple bag. it can be used as a carry on. a sleeping bag will not fit in the bag. you can strap it to the outside. I manged a year with it but i would often supplement it with a smaller 10-15L bag. I think I would prefer a larger bag for future travel, but only 10 more. Low 40's
