17.38. YES. WHO DOESN'T LIKE DOGS.
I'll start. /u/airham and I generally play 2v2 at a local park that we call the astro dome even though we live near Chicago. We follow traditional baseball rules except:
Equipment:
I got a "leather jack" off etsy, it's basically a leather wrapped stick if you will. That's one option, if you want something cheaper we've also used foam bats like a kids t-ball bat(like this: http://amzn.to/2tkgZnK) which gives a good thud.
BONUS!!
Yes. Cherries. need them now.
Hey! I really like your site but I figured I'd throw a couple of ideas your way. Just some things you may not be aware of or hadn't gotten to yet.
Alternate Rules - There are leagues all over the country and they have all made some tweaks to the rules to make the game more fun and it's really helped grow the game. If I were you, I'd present some of the variations in rules so people have some options and can find the version that fits best for them. For example, The Palisades WBL is fast pitch on a 90 degree field with no base running. They also allow almost any type of plastic bat to be used. It's a really fun way to play the game and they have tons of videos recapping their league play.
WSEM plays a similar style as the Palisades WBL but they run the bases.
The gold standard, however, is probably the NWLA Tournament. They only use the OG yellow bat and unscuffed wiffle balls, use a 90 degree field and they run the bases.
Ball Scuffing - I think having some of Wiffleboy28's stuff would be a good idea too. Scuffing the wiffleball can add control and give the ball a bigger break, although your balls will wear out quicker and some people think it's cheating. However, the biggest leagues all scuff.
Additional Equipment - You missed some of the best bats out there!
so does it need to be a REAL bat or would plastic work ?

this one is plastic and you could easily lightly sand the bat to take the white off

While /u/thepowerisyours sockballs are an intriguing free option, I'd recommend getting these: SKLZ Impact Softballs.
They're light, don't fly very far (80-90ft), and unlike regular wiffle balls they're made with tough plastic so they last much longer. They also deform significantly when you hit them, so you know immediately when you haven't squared one up.
