just bought this and can attest it is almost as comfortable as the bed i sleep on every night. for $50 you cant really go wrong. it fits someone as tall as 6'6", and i'm 6'3" so i usually have issues. no issues here! paired with an EZup with tapestry walls, planning on this being the comfiest roo yet!

Thank you : )

I sleep on a large cot. Between that and my oversized sleeping bag, I'm quite comfortable. Not that I'm a big guy, I just like having extra room. Figured I'd sacrifice the extra comfort of a matress for the versatility of a larger living space.

How about a cot? That's heavier but would keep you dry for sure. Thermarest makes one.

You could try a cot like this

u/extrados · 3 pointsr/CampingGear

We have one similar to this (picked up at REI a couple years back but they don't carry it any more): https://www.amazon.com/Easy-Portable-Folding-Byer-Maine/dp/B003JDE3JY/ that might fit the bill. My wife plus youngest are about your weight together and have slept on it multiple outings. You'll probably still want a pad under you for for cool nights.

  • Cot dimensions are 78"L X 31"W X 18”H
  • holds up to 325lbs

Get a cot. For extra comfort, top it off with a memory foam pad. I’ve lived on one of these for a few months and was very comfortable.

It would have to go in the checked luggage but a tent cot is hard to beat for comfort. They typically weigh 5-8 pounds and pack down to around 6 liters. Absolutely worth it but the 1st time assembling them is tough!

u/WesternTrain · 2 pointsr/camping

I use these for car camping for the last several years. I have an older model, but guessing they're pretty similar. Looks like there are others that are similar (and less expensive), but I have no experience with them.

These pack down pretty small, not for backpacking, but keep you off the ground and keep me more comfortable than the variety of sleeping pads I own for backpacking.

Teton XXL is rated for 600 lbs and is 85"x40". It's 19" inches tall, the mattress would add a little, the rest you could make up with a lumber base.

I use this cot: DESERT WALKER Camping Cots, Outdoor Bed Ultra Lightweight Cot https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F6Y67FN/
It is 1300 grams so not ultralight but I can sleep on my side and store gear under it while I sleep.

u/dudehowdy · 2 pointsr/bonnaroo

THIS\^\^. My first time to ever use a cot was last year per friend's recommendation..... it was the best night sleep I have ever gotten while camping. Cots are the way to go.

I'm flying in this year, so I needed something portable. I got this cot off amazon for my birthday this year, and it's going to work great.

See if this works for your thoughts...

Cots/Bunk 500 pound

Not an affiliate link. Just a plain link. (Someone was in a panic the other day when I posted a link.)

a) smarties!!!! we both have them on our lists!!!

now that im looking we have a lot in common on our lists same protein powder, sour patch kids. creatine. and now im going to add the bumper dumper

b) since we have a lot of the same items, im gonna try to pull things off my wishlist that you might like:

You seem to do a lot of outdoors type stuff, how about a waterproof iphone case. a recovery strap incase you ever get suck or need to pull someone out.

You must workout since you have protein powder and the like: i hear this is a great workout book.

and last but not least, a camping cot

Agreed. Get a http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000AY9SB8?pc_redir=1397956109&robot_redir=1

There are potentially cheaper ones than that. But it was my first google search on my phone.

How often?

Maybe you can just setup a bunk cot?
https://www.amazon.com/Disc-O-Bed-Youth-Kid-O-Bunk-Organizers-Teal/dp/B00U7R4XAE

That one is a kids one but there are adult ones too. It turns into seating as well.

I just saw this portable cot today on Amazon - kinda cool.

For anyone that weight and size are a concern, but still want to sleep on a cot.

I love this thing:

https://www.amazon.com/Therm-Rest-UltraLite-Reflect-Regular/dp/B01N0OY1TK/

Better than any sleeping pad I've ever used. I sleep on my side, and I can ACTUALLY SLEEP on this thing. By that, I mean I don't have to wake up every 30 to 45 minutes to roll over, like I have to on a sleeping pad. I have to roll over once or twice, but that is normal for me even in a comfy bed.

I am 6'5", 250 lbs, and the large size works great for me. Mind you, I always tuck my knees in a bit when sleeping. It does still support me if I lay on my back with feet straight out. It is exactly 77 inches long.

There are many military style cots that go up to 350# for under 80$. Here was the first I found: http://www.amazon.com/Earth-Products-Jamboree-Military-Folding/dp/B005GHMT06/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1409672008&sr=8-1&keywords=military+cot

Decent reviews.

Over your budget but this is what you need.

Disc-O-Bed Large Cam-O-Bunk Cot with Organizers https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079RN5YSC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_.wB4Bb3EWVKK8

He can sit on the top bunk. I have 2 sets of these. They’re great. 6’3 big dude checking in. 500# rated.

Edit: looks like cabellas has them for $289 right now.

u/OdinW · 1 pointr/minimalism

I've slept in this for a couple of years now and I LOVE it. I'm sure any cot from a military surplus store would work too. I stuff a sleeping bag with blankets for a "mattress" and I'm all set. It's surprisingly comfortable. The only con is that it's basically strictly built for one.

Get 2 Coleman Sundome 4 person tents ($42 on Amazon), or one Coleman Sundome 6 person tent ($90). You should also invest in an EZ up (AKA pop up) canopy. Slant leg 10x10 ozark trail canopy is like $45 at walmart.com right now.

For beds, unless you;re trying to invest in something that you'll use over and over again after Firefly, just get some air mattresses. You're going to be on grass so an air mattress should last you through the weekend fine and be comfortable enough.

Coleman queen size air mattress ($23 on amazon) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M0BPG26/ref=sspa_dk_hqp_detail_aax_0?th=1&psc=1

Etekcity rechargeable air pump ($26 on amazon) https://www.amazon.com/Etekcity-Electric-Rechargeable-Quick-Fill-Inflatables/dp/B07CTF8TS8/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=air+mattress+rechargable&qid=1556044876&s=gateway&sr=8-3

If you really want cots, I suggest these as they're light but comfortable - Byer Allagash cot (2 for $111 on Amazon) https://www.amazon.com/BYER-MAINE-Allagash-Lightweight-250lbs/dp/B07KJKDB5N/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_1?keywords=byer+allagash&qid=1556045223&s=gateway&sr=8-1-fkmrnull

Otherwise the cheapest cot you'll find will probably be the Coleman ones which are about $35 each on Amazon. But they're bulky and heavy.

If you're car camping, get a cot. Put your inflatable pad on top of the cot and your bag on top of that. Add a real pillow from home, and you'll sleep well. At least I do.

Unless you have a giant tent, you'll want a cot that's low to the ground. This cot has worked well for me in a 3-person tent:
