This works for me: Thundering Rainstorm

I'll put in my recommendation: Mike Oldfield's Amarok.

The less you know going in, the better. Just find yourself 60:02 of undisturbed listening time with a solid sound system and go for a ride that will challenge everything you think you know about music. If there is a more eclectic selection of sounds on a single album then I've never heard it, in fact nothing else has ever even come close...

This album should kick up new visuals for you on the order of once every three minutes. You may find the thematic map useful.

If you have time, i strongly recommend doing some meditation. if you haven't done that before, here is what I did for my dad. He is terrified of hospitals and surgery, because his father passed away in a hospital (old age). To calm him, I bought him these two audio CDs: http://www.amazon.com/Preparing-Surgery-Exercises-Relaxation-Accelerated/dp/1591791405/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1371613610&sr=8-2&keywords=guided+imagery+surgery

My stepmom would put them on every night, and they would fall asleep listening to them. I also gave them to a coworker who was terrified of an upcoming surgery, and she converted them to MP3s and put them on her iPod.

Both my dad and coworker had awesome procedures, their surgical staff was amazing, and they healed very well postoperatively. I recommend either or both of those discs wholeheartedly.

Stay away from googling shit about your medical condition, that stuff scares the hell out of me too. I hope you feel better.

This looks right up my alley. I'll do my best to find a digital copy, but if anyone else finds it please tell me!

Edit: Here's a CD on Amazon.

I love ambient music and nature sounds. OP does that describe this music?

For helping a child sleep, check this out:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Inward-Harmony-Marcey/dp/B000001UN5

I used to play it on repeat for my kids on access weekends. Grandkids got played it too. Really sophorific, never play while driving.

There are several excellent environmental recordings available. One of the best is Environments: Dawn & Dusk at New Hope, PA:

I'd recommend that. One other recommendation: "Tubular Bells" by Mike Oldfield, the entire album.
