Good Falernum recipe...

Falernum #9

The Bitter Truth also makes a good Falernum

Golden Falernum

BG Reynolds makes a non-alcoholic Falernum syrup that is pretty tasty and available from Amazon.

Bittermens makes their ‘Elemakule Tiki Bitters that also add very similar notes to a cocktail also available via Amazon.

If you like the Old Fashioned I have something that may be of interest to you:

Grab a spicy and vanilla heavy whisky (think Four Rose Bourbon or Forty Creek Copper Pot), look for a citrus fruit bitters like Fee Brothers Grapefruit Bitters, and grab a blood orange. Make your OF with these omitting the cherry and lemon and replace the water with a splash of sparkling water. Personally I love the citrus fruits in this OF as it marries so well with the sweetness and spice of the whisky.

Tequila and Anejo Tequila are very different indeed. I have been a bourbon, irish whiskey, scotch kinda guy for years. I love the taste of these fine whiskey drinks. Tequila reminded me of shots with salt and lime in my early years of drinking. Not tasty. Not for me I thought. A respectable Anejo tequila is very akin to these aged whiskeys that I so enjoy. And I think it is worthy of a try if you've never had it. I encourage you to try Tres Generaciones. It has been my favorite brand. And if nothing else, it is a really impressive looking bottle. I think it is ~$50/fifth but that varies largely from state to state, country to country, etc.

Typical Angostura bitters are aromatic. They are nothing at all like blood orange bitters. Angostura Aromatic bitters work great to round out the flavors of a cocktail, but aren't instilling a real depth of flavor imo. Blood Orange bitters are made from the rind of blood oranges and have a very distinctly orange taste and smell. They work great in a drink like this. Additionally I have regular Orange bitters, Lemon, Peach, Grapefruit, and Mint. I have seen others like Lavendar I think, but haven't tried them (I have this image of a girly purple drink in my head. No thanks. Haha). They're all really interesting to experiment with. I love the mint bitters around St. Patrick's day or Christmas as the green color is fun. You can also get a green drink if you use orange juice and Blue Curacao in the right proportions.

I get my bitters at A Southern Season, which is local to me. But I suspect high end grocers and the like will have similar selections. You can also try ordering Fee Brothers on Amazon. I am feeling a bit like a lush now, but it is something I am pretty heavily interested in. Always down to talk spirits.

The dirty little secret here is that many of us are probably trying out Angostura cocktails when we're at work ...

Also are you not able to buy it on Amazon? They have a pack of 2 for 20 bucks

The world should not continue to be kept from enjoying it!
The Best at Home Recipe I can offer you right now:

1 Oz. - Torani Caramel Syrup
1 Oz. - Butterscotch Schnapps
7-10 Drops - Butter Vanilla Emulsion
1 1/2 Oz. - [Cruzan 9](https://www.cruzanrum.com/rum-collection/cruzan-9-spiced-rum/)
1 Cup - Vanilla Seltzer
Blend With a Ice Until Thick

*(Dont fuck this part up and try to substitute it for some cheap caramel rum or do something stupid like make it non-alcoholic)

I dont have a recipe for you for the foam, but you wont need it, you wont have time to stop making these to focus on it anyway. You can experiment with adding Frothee or Fee Brother's Fee Foam if you think itll help, though I wont tell you what happens if you do.
Go ahead and share this if you really want, just give me some credit.

Word Of Advice: DO NOT start making these for large groups of people at barbecues unless you want to do it all night and have plenty of supplies

More for cocktails but a few drops in your beer makes it good. And by good, I mean like a better, more hoppy beer. So if you don't like beer you won't like beer with bitters. :/

My wife loves it. If you wanna get fancy, the first time we had this was at a restaurant here and they used homemade cranberry simple syrup. I don't mess with that. I just use the cranberry juice and regular simple syrup.

I just chug an Underberg take some excedrin.

I use Bitterman's Orange Cream Citrate. A few drops in a liter bottle give a pleasant orangish flavor.

Also, making your own coconut extract to replicate la croix coconut does not work. :( It just doesn't give much coconut flavor...
