I've started giving new moms a basket of "essentials" including baby Tylenol, saline spray, gas drops, PINXAV diaper ointment (IT'S MAGIC PINK BUTT CREAM AND EVERYONE NEEDS IT), a Nose Frida, a pack of diapers, a Starbucks gift card, and a bottle of wine.
My older boy LIVED in his swing while teething. It was literally the only thing that got him to sleep. This younger kid is growing way quicker and I'm dreading the day he reaches the weight limit for his swing.

Here's my routine:
i'm an amazon addict so i'm going to link to them: 1) http://www.amazon.com/Diaper-Rash-Cream-Zinc-Oxide/dp/B000056J64/ 2) http://www.amazon.com/Desert-Essence-Organic-Jojoba-4-Ounce/dp/B0000C0XL8/ 3) http://www.amazon.com/Cetaphil-16-Gentle-Skin-Cleanser/dp/B000FFT8KS/ and i also now use this once a week: http://elenarubin.com/collections/shop/products/veritas
I use cloth wipes! I didn't make mine, I bought mine and I have to say I love them. I use disposables at the doctors office and when we're out for now (because I don't see the point of wasting 2 CDs at the doctors office, id rather just throw away a disposable) and I also use disposable wipes. I notice that I use at least 3-4 per change where id use 1 cloth wipe at home.
I do laundry every other day and have about 50+ wipes. that's a good amount for me. we've been wetting the wipes with water and then using a dry wipe to pat dry before putting the diaper on. this is the same thing the hospital had us do except they didn't use cloth wipes just clothy gauze type pads. I also use this now.
sometimes but rarely. i’d say regardless, it’s good to change your pillowcase as much as possible but i don’t think i’ve ever gotten much on it and i move a bit too. try a less absurd amount maybe
it says diaper nappy but don’t worry. it’s the samw ingredients and it’s available in many countries the exact same way sometimes even sold as a “derma” version and in a balm tube too. gimmicky because the “diaper care ointment” is the exact same product for a fraction of the cost

I use this stuff... bonds to the skin well, does not affect plastic. Ive used it for months at a time, no rash, no odor, no staining/marring of the plastic. Water beads right off of it.
There's a diaper rash cream you can get that has been amazing for my DD. She had diarrhea really bad after her 2 month shots to where we had to lay her in the pack n play with puppy pads under her completely naked and just took her to the sink and bathed her every time she would use the bathroom, it lasted for a week and she had horrible diaper rash from it. You can get it on Amazon or some pharmacies carry it or can get it for you. But I've recommended it to several friends whose babies have had diaper rash and with 24 hours it's gone! It's called pinxav

We use disposables, so I have little to offer in cloth advice. As far as all the extras are concerned, all we really use is wipes and diaper cream. I would recommend not stocking up too much on any one type of cream as different babies respond better to different creams. Desitin always worked wonderfully for my eldest and it was pretty inexpensive to pick up at Costco. My younger daughter got a bad rash that the Desitin did nothing for so after trying a million things we settled on Baby Anti-Monkey Butt Cream. It's a bit more expensive (although cheapest at Walgreens), but it works wonders. It also doesn't have that medicine smell which is nice.
