I'm pretty sure it's by Cybil Tawney, from his 1972 album In Port. (Tawney is the guy who wrote the song in the first place, but he didn't release his own version until well after The Young Tradition.) I can't confirm this though.
Searching the rest of the internet, the only version of the song by Tawney that I could find is from a later album, and sounds significantly more subdued, albeit similar.
