This is a Christian book that apparently uses science to support one particular take on the biblical creation story and screws up the science in the process.

Here it is on Google Books, the publisher's site and on Amazon. Let me quote one Amazon review:

Pass this one up. It is not worth $1.00, February 14, 2013

Education and objective science is not the purpose of this work. If your intent is to educate your child then I suggest you find another source. The marine biology text I have from 40 years ago is far superior. This work is not well written. It appears that the author scanned through other texts and "cherry picked" portions with little understanding of the subject. However my main criticism is the complete lack of scholarship and pure fiction promoted. She appears to have invented history to support her view of the Biblical Creation out of "thin air".

If I listed all of the unsupported and fictitious "teachings" in the book it would fill another book. The author appears to be genuinely ignorant about the subject. I will not bore your with the entire list however a few examples:

  • "The Ice Age: The Most Likely Cause of Most Estuaries". This heading follows an introduction of "well-known" estuaries. Some of the examples are: San Francisco Bay, Tampa Bay, Mississippi River delta, Heuningnes Estuary in South Africa, Bay of Bengal, Phang Nga Bay, and the Gulf of Carpentaria. There is no evidence that ice ever reached any of these locations. She conveniently never mentions a couple of "monster" estuaries such as the Amazon delta and the region extending east from Buenos Aires.
  • She discusses intertidal zones and ecosystems, then has a photo of a "Soft-Bottom Intertidal Ecosystem in Hawaii". Tides in Hawaii are almost nonexistent. The photo she shows is of a sandy beach.

My recommendation is pass this one by. It is worthless.

I have a couple of them, and they're really good!

Personally, I would go with something like this

http://www.amazon.com/Desert-Survival-Skills-David-Alloway/dp/0292704925

If you have the room and weight for a book, I would take one that matters.
