Also yay for wood toys over here. Except for a few hand-me-downs (just some colored shapes things that I thought would be educational), we don't do plastic toys over here.

Mostly for our own sanity. We're both designers and can't get over how tacky most baby shit is. The rock n play turned out to be a total necessity but I'm counting down the days until I never have to look at it again.

I found this table from Amazon, and we keep the living room supply of toys stored in there. It's great because LO (just turned 1) can serve herself. But if we don't have it overflowing (which we never do), you can't really tell at first glance that they are baby toys in there. We figured when she's older we'll just put an extra throw blanket or something in there.

We called them end tables. The living room while i was growing up had two of almost that exact design.

Accent end table seems to be the furniture name. Convenience Concepts Maxwell Mid Century Accent End Table, Mahogany https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073JFYZZW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_i5vvDbHRDNA3H

Yes, search “small table” as well as “wooden stool”, “plant stand”, “accent table”...etc.

I have this visual of someone knocking the HP over by bumping up against it, and then the weight of the HP ripping the power cord and it hitting the floor.

A lot of us made mistakes starting out, but what's important is we learn from our mistakes, take the advice given, and improve the quality of life for our little buddies. I also understand having too small a space for a really big tank, but a 5g or even a 5.5g is really NOT that big... as reference, I originally had 3.5g tanks (the TopFin Enchant) for my bois with lots of water quality maintenance, but recently switched over to 5.5g tanks (TopFin Essentials kit) which fit in the EXACT same places the old 3.5g tanks fit (after doing a bit of cleaning and moving of stuff that didn't actually need to be there on the tabletop or simply sliding them over a bit). The tanks are just a bit more longer, around 16 inches long, but if you think about it, that's really not that bad and will fit fine on most nightstands or side-tables / end-tables or whatnot. I actually wish I had made the switch sooner. I see a NOTICEABLE difference in how much more active my bettas are now with the slightly larger tanks, even though they were quite active in the 3.5g tanks.

Do keep in mind that a filled 5g tank will weigh around 40 lb, and a 5.5g will weigh around 45 lb, so whatever you choose to keep them on should be able to support that amount of weight without collapsing (don't let that discourage you from getting the proper size tank though, just make sure to find sturdy furniture to keep them on :) and all will be well).

Here's some possible sturdy yet small shelfs/tables which will fit a 5.5g tank:

https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-3-Shelf-Shelving-Unit-Black/dp/B01LWP8AL2/ (it says each shelf can support up to 250 lb). The only thing I would add (although optional, but would provide better support for the tank) is a sturdy but thin plank of wood to the top shelf surface for the tank to sit on top.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TLLSN5R/ (somewhat costly but looks great and sturdy)

A tool belt could work. Or perhaps a small camp table [like this] (https://www.amazon.com/Finnhomy-Folding-Anti-Rusty-Outdoor-Multi-use/dp/B01N6K1EDO/). With some modifications you could even build this into a carry-all for your toys by attaching a suitcase or tool roll on the top.

I'm thinking one or two "C Table" style end tables.

u/emdillem · 2 pointsr/malelivingspace

no that's good. This one too is the kind of shape I was thinking of. To sit right alongside sofa end. It's not something I usually like on its own but in the right context it goes. The lamp would go well on the surface. And you already have a roundish glass clear coffee table. I'm thinking it would add some depth. But irl it might look cheap and tacky but so might the metal on the one you've selected. Also round lamp on round table not the best but if you love that it'll work.

Can't speak to the quality (it's just been on my wish list), but has decent reviews. Could at least give you a starting point for something similar. Wish they had color options too.

Keep with the mid century modern get a nice tall lamp 1 or 2 and side table on each side.
Two big prints on the back would add a lot of depth, don't go over board with colors. i really like the Japanese style 1 and 2 with the mid century.

I was literally just looking at this bedframe. I think you just solidified my purchase. I've been looking for things that match to go along with it like this lamp (make sure you hit the black color) on top of this nightstand.

Let me know any other stuff you manage to find or if you have any tips.
