They have a bigger toe box than regular casual shoes but I'm not sure if it's big enough for you. They also breathe better than the last pair of "minimalist" dress shoes I bought, which made my feet sweat like crazy.

I think for a casual event like this at a pub/bar, a simple casual outfit like you said would be great. Fit is pretty important if you want to have a slightly more refined look.

Try an outfit like this:

Guys I really need your input on this one.

I found these Wolverine Ramon boots at Nordstrom Rack for 100$ (they are on amazon for $120). The reviews on Amazon are not the best, and I am not certain that they paint a fair picture of the quality. Does anybody have any experience with these? The price is essentially right in my budget. Should I keep them or give them back and try to find some 1000 miles?

The Puma El Rey is a great choice. For $35 you get a leather slip-on that can pass for a shoe with a much higher price. I've been to many clubs with these on and never got hassled. And the best part since they are inexpensive you don't have to worry about getting them messed up and they're easy to clean.

These Sperry canvas sneakers for only 29?

I got mine on sale several years back but no idea how frequently it happens. You could get the same look for cheaper by buying regular Vans Authentics on sale somewhere if you can find a deal, and the boot laces separately. Also, Sperry makes the Striper CVO which looks similar, is even more comfortable, and might be cheaper.

Thank you everyone for the help! After looking through all of these comments and checking some styling guides in the side-bar, I settled on some Ked's for my low-cut sneaker-esque shoe, and a pair of some desert boots from Aldo. Both were on sale so I scooped them.
