Kneel on the floor or I have a shop stool that I will kick around. If you want to something more convenient, I'd go with a small stool.
I thought I was the only one who did this. I have a folding stool for my kid to climb in. Because god forbid I prevent her from climbing in herself. Toddlers....

It's known as a "Library Step Stool", but half of it is missing. It's hard to explain in words, easier to take a look at the pictures and see how it flips over and turns into a step ladder. Here's one on Amazon.

Folding Step Stool
I use this one, and it's great.
If you're going to sit for long periods, you may need to take more care to find one that's the right height for you (or do some tinkering). I modded my bench to be a little higher, and it's perfect now -- I can sit for hours on it.
Get this so then he can't use that as an excuse lol
I saw a group of people on step stools at Bonnaroo a few years ago and thought it was kind of ingenious.
It's only going to work if you're several feet back away at the back of the crowd, but it could still potentially be helpful.
