Maybe see if you can try a strap/harness like this?

I have one I've been using the past three years. Worth every penny. Most comfortable strap I've used. I can play for hours with no discomfort.

I'm not sure if this would help you at all but have you looked at a harness strap?

ive tried a few different styles and I like this style the best.

6' 4" and 290 after losing 50lbs just recently and still going. I know your pain.

My absolute favorite straps are from Jaycko. They are amazing patterns and kick ass materials and workmanship. Not cheap but well worth it. I max the length out on these and they fit me perfect.

For really heavy guitars I go with one of these : D'Addario Accessories Onyx - Premium Leather Guitar Strap, by D'Addario (25PRL00) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MUFYV87/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_HcjvDbAZBAMEW
This is my Les Paul strap. Again, maxed out but, they work and look and feel amazing and will last forever. Save those Daddarrio points. Don't pay for that 🤣🤣.

If you are cheap, the $9.99 Ernie balls nylon straps that every guitar store on the planet carries are SUPER long and dirt cheap. They suck but they are huge.

The fender script straps are big too. I have a few of those vintagey vibe reissue ones that are long as well. The white and yellow is the longest.

Good luck. Once you find a few that work buy in bulk!

Edit. I also have gone to GC, grabbed my guitar shape off the wall and just started attaching straps to it. Maybe I have no shame but no one said anything. Gotta try them out when you know your size isn't normal.

You can get him this strap and a Ride the Lightning shirt lol. And then maybe a pack of the Hetfield picks from dunlop. I actually really like them.

I use an ernie ball padded leather strap and it's really comfortable: Ernie Ball Guitar Strap (P04138) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MYODFRI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_8a3PDbBRPE6YW

P.S. I love mine, and only play with it on now. The difference is amazing!

I have about 10 of these right now. Cheap, super soft, metal rings (not plastic), and wide so my neck heavy SG's don't dive and my heavy guitars hurt my back less. Unfortunately, the smaller guitar sized straps from the same company have plastic rings and are made from a crappy scratchy material.

Also bonus pick pocket.
