you can find a lot of similar athletic sax wrangling with James Carter. he's a ridiculously fantastic jazz player. check out Chasin the Gypsy with Regina Carter. as far as things with similar atmosphere, though... nothing is quite like colin stetson.
i forgot about this in my last post, this is one of my favorite instrumentals. Django Rheinhardt, who i was introduced to from the movie Sweet and Lowdown. Listen to this and you'll feel like it's 1928.

OK so it turns out that John RT Davies' apprentice, Ted Kendall, remastered a shitload of Django for JSP. So I think this is most of it in chronological order:
You should probably just start from the beginning with the Classic Early Recordings.
There are a lot of styles you should check out. Some you will like and grow to hate. Some you will hate and grow to love.
Guitarists:
Barney Kessel
Django Reinhardt
John McLaughlin
And you can check out other awesome musicians. Charles Mingus on upright bass, Thelonius Monk on piano, Sidney Bechet is a swing type clarinet player, and Oscar Peterson - This album is awesome
Just explore it and learn more about the artists you like. It will lead you to other people you haven't heard yet.

|name|Jason Webley|
|about artist|Jason Webley is a Seattle-born singer-songwriter known for playing a mix of gypsy, folk, and punk. He has released five albums on his own label, Eleven Records. These feature Webley on the piano, guitar, accordion, and a number of other instruments, though when touring he only brings his guitar, accordion, and a vodka bottle containing coins from around the world, which he uses for percussion. In addition, he has released five collaborative albums, one with Seattle poet Jay Thompson, another with Michigan singer-songwriter Andru Bemis... Also, there is a boxed set out there with 200 tracks retailing for ~$15. (Amazon's listing--just $10 for the download). I own this and it's a solid set (although nothing in the way of liner notes).
