I’d look into getting an EZ goal. https://www.amazon.com/EZGoal-Hockey-Folding-Backstop-Targets/dp/B00DGX30Q4

Cheaper and supposedly good quality. If I had space to make a shooting area, that’s what I’d get.

For reference. If you've really got time, make each pillar swivel and you can shift it like a snake.

I mean I guess that depends on how handy you are. You could definitely frame a wall around the net and board it with 1/4 plywood?

You could also buy targets that attach to the net, to encourage your son to aim? It's way more beneficial to have an accurate shot than a powerful one.

Edit: I've also had friends with a product like this

Not op, but I got the EZ Goal setup from Amazon. Excellent home tool, but be sure to buy the two inch pole. I've dented a place here and there, but they are extremely subtle dents. I'm very pleased with it.

Thanks - it looks like Amazon pricematched Target since it was $139 when I looked a couple days ago. Ordering from Amazon now. Link here: https://www.amazon.com/EZGoal-Hockey-Folding-Backstop-Targets/dp/B00DGX30Q4

Yeah, I just this week was trying to buy THIS hockey goal backstop, but "Usually ships within 4 to 5 months?" WTH? Is that time frame taking into account the culling the ore from the earth and smelting it into iron first or something? Anyway, I went with THIS one instead even though I just needed the backstop and it's double the price, I guess I'll try and sell the goal for $40 and recover some of the $$$.

I think I might have found you a solution. This could be modified in a way to help you out.

It isn't its designed purpose. But I am thinking that you could glue something like neoprene on it. That will keep your hand from sliding. The sides of it could help keep the stick from coming out of your hand when taking shots while remaining loose enough for you to let go of your stick if you go down or it gets trapped by someone.

That's awesome to hear, because I just bought a set of these A&R Stick Handling Balls
