HAHA I love the simplicity. I use one of these with one of these and although it was a bit expensive it looks very... professional? No place to store stuff in my apartment so it all has to be out in the open. Anyways hooked up to The Gripster 2.0 - Makes for a cool home gym setup that can easily be swapped onto a wrist roller and is interchangeable with my plates as well

You can use scrap 25mm or 50mm webbing. If you're using 50mm webbing buy a rectangular quicklink connect the quicklink to your round sling anchor. Remove the existing sewn loop webbing on the ratchet and replace it with scrap webbing tied to to the ratchet. Now create five wraps with the scrap webbing to the quicklink and tie it off and you have your system.

I would use a nylon sling and a quick link through that, then affix the block and tackle to the quick link. This will give you more than enough strength, and allow you to use the full strength of the wood, i.e. you're not compromising it with a hole drilled in it.
