Thoroughly recommend Professor Abdel Haleem's translation of the Quran:

Alhamdulillah. May Allah swt make it easy for you. If you are looking for an introductory book for new Muslims, I recommend the following :

Translation of Quran by MAS Abdel Haleem is very good. Martin Lings' biography on Prophet is one of the best.
If you want any or all of the books, I would be glad to mail you by Amazon gift service.
Here's a tutorial on all the daily prayers.
Here's an interactive website for learning to pray.
Here's a book on how to pray from Amazon.com
Also I recommend this app. It tells you when its time to pray and it has the entire Qur'an, an Islamic calendar, fasting tracker, etc. It's a really useful app mashaAllah.
Also, here is a post with a ton of introductory info about Islam in general.
Allah bless you.

These are some of the books I have at the moment and I highly recommend them after reading them. I am waiting on a few more books but a lot are non Islamic but still really useful [:
Edit: Like this
>So essentially the claim is valid? The Quran is against freedom of religion, freedom of sexuality and freedom of women?
I REALLY think you will get your answers and benefit more from reading The Muslim Next Door: The Qur'an, the Media, and That Veil Thing. It's an excellent read that has the answers to your exact questions.
You'll find many of the same things in books related to the higher objectives of Islamic legislation, like the following:
Imam Al-Shatibi's Theory of the Higher Objectives and Intents of Islamic Law
Ibn Ashur: Treatise on Maqasid Al-Shariah
Towards Realization of the Higher Intents of Islamic Law: Maqasid Al-Shariah: A Functional Approach
It's a very popular approach with reformers which often leads to an exageration of its role in Islamic jurisprudence.
Salam brother, when I converted I used this website to learn how to pray. I have since come across this book and found that it is very good with clear pictures and transliterations. If you want it but for whatever reason you're not able to order it, drop me a PM and i'll send you a copy inshallah.
Well, Nepali Muslims are among the millions of Nepalis who've gone to the Gulf to work, and like everywhere else in the world, they have brought back Salafi ideologies. There is a strong and growing Salfist movement in Nepal, which receives funding from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE.
If you're interested, I highly recommend this book:
I bought this book: How to Pray in Islam
It's quite good, and breaks the prayer down into phases so you can remember a bit at a time. I think it's a Sunni book. I would like to learn more about how Shi'a pray, but have yet to find a good guide.
(And don't sweat all the "rules that invalidate prayer" right now. Just pray. God knows what's up. You will get there.)
(Also get some nice tasbeeh. I find it helpful to practice dhikr and focus my mind. It's a form of meditation, really, and good training for calming one's inner dialogue.)

This is a great book on this subject. It's originally Turkish I don't know how the translation is.
