Alright, that's enough of that shit. Foodie here.

You're giving ChikFilA the same kind of golden-calf praise people heap on Krispy Kreme. You've got your head so wrapped up in a lauded name-brand that you actually start to think you can taste a difference.

The bread is soggy, the veggies are limp, and you can make the same sandwich, taste and all, using some shitty "Great Value!" Wal-Mart breaded chicken strips, twenty to a bag.

And if you have your heart set on some waffle fries, just get one of these fucking things and rotate your potato 90 degrees on every cut.

I'm also not going to support sheer ignorance because someone put a maraschino cherry and whipped cream on my milkshake.

--PSA-- If you're into keto or paleo, a veggie spiralizer is on sale today with a coupon code for less than $10 and it's Prime.

Here you go. and the coupon code is: TOJHEG9F

Almost all of them.

The better I get at cooking the less gadget I use. Serving & wood spoons, cheap tongs, good knives and a spider and a spatula are my main and almost only tools.

That being said there are 3 tools that may be considered gadget that I use all the time. A good quality madoline (believe me that's not a gadget!), My pasta machine that I use almost once a week and finally my avocado cutter that I use almost everyday. (I could live without the avocado tool but it's faster and we eat a lot of avocados)

u/Treereme · 9 pointsr/whatisthisthing

Soft boiled egg actually. Link to buy. Video of use.

Just to chime in: I have this one, which is similar and currently available... it's fantastic and easy to clean. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MSZE4YK/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apap_qX4gqXFZjaPdW

Already been answered but here's the exact product on Amazon in case you had any remaining doubt: Amco Avocado Slicer and Pitter.

I bought this vegetable Chopper. I use it all the time. I hate how time consuming prepping veggies are and this helps a lot https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0764HM9BM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_9b9XBbFZDYY6Y

u/RustyDogma · 4 pointsr/keto

I'd really recommend a crank spiralizer. Much easier to clean and more versatile.

u/Anna_Draconis · 3 pointsr/londonontario

You can't. Smokes is about the closest I can find and I'm not a fan of potato skins on fries or their gravy. These days I just make my own - I get my poutine gravy from Food Basics (St. Hubert), my cheese curds from Sunripe, and my yukon gold potatoes from any grocery store. I have a counter top fryer and a fry cutter that makes life a little easier :)

> I can't wait to drop cash on a mandolin to do just this

Is this what you're talking about? When you said mandolin, I thought you were talking about the musical instrument and was really confused until I looked it up.

Yes, cut them with this thing, and then fried them twice.

I bought this one, it's a little more expensive at $20. I chose it because it comes with a cleaning brush, which I can also use for my water bottle straws... those are usually $4 so it seemed like an extra bonus compared to some of the other spiralizers.

u/RPP_Standard · 3 pointsr/MealPrepSunday

> We got the Briefton 5-blade. The suctions cups on the bottom are a bit flimsy, but we like it over all.

u/ProjectD13X · 2 pointsr/Cooking

Never used one of these but it seems like it would do the trick https://www.amazon.com/Culina-French-Potato-Cutter-Slicing/dp/B00FX0LBGE

I don't have any experience with this product, so don't take this as a recommendation, but it should at least set you on the right track to find something you'll like.

u/GERONIMOOOooo___ · 2 pointsr/Cooking

Not sure how big you want your cubes, but you can minimize the knife work with the right tool. If you get one of these or something similar, you'd only have to cut your potato into thick slices. Then, throw it on that thing, press through the grid and voila! Cubed taters.

If you're lucky, you might be able to find one of those that can both slice as thick as you need and has a grid that will cover them to a big enough size for you, and no more knife work!

u/Croutonsec · 2 pointsr/MealPrepSunday

I use a version of this one, but in metal, and it works perfectly: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C2TT2H8/ref=sspa_mw_detail_2?psc=1

UGH I JUST REMEMBERED TO FINISH THIS BRB

  • Crock-pot
  • Scale
  • Roasting Pan
  • Stock Pot
  • Food Processor
  • French Press (for daily caffeination)
  • Glass Containers (for leftovers)
  • Spirilizer, for making zucchini noodles. I adore this. Its like a giant pencil sharpener. Very easy to use/clean/store.
  • Immersion Blender (on my Christmas list)

My more complex kitchen tools are used for things like making pastries/breads/cakes, all of which I don't eat anymore.

invest in a good mandoline, it will cut your prep time down to nothing (no pun intended!). This one has been working wonders for almost a year.

This is the spiraliser I have - https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Spiralizers-Manual-Graters-Slicers/Cuisique-Premium-Courgette-Spaghetti-including-Mandolin-Vegetable/B00PR54V30/

u/DrunkBotanist · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I've got one. I've only used it once so far, but it's pretty neat and easy. I made zucchini noodles and they were great. There are a couple others here with them too. I'd have to go look for a comment to find out who, but we could all share recipes.

Also, if you don't want to pay shipping, you can always send me a GC and I can order it for you off your list.

edit: The one I have looks identical to the one on your list, but I paid $8 more for whatever reason.

I use this one that I got off amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C2TT2H8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Pro-tip for making zucchini pasta: after you run the zucchini through your spiralizer let the noodles sit out on some paper towels or a cloth and generously salt them. The salt will draw out a lot of the excess moisture from the noodles which will then me absorbed by the cloth you use. What I typically do is spiralize the noodles and salt them like I described, then go cook whatever else I'm making to go with the noodles, which is usually a pork butt steak, and then fry up the noodles in the time that my steak is resting. Zucchini noodles really only need 3-4 minutes tops in the pan to be fully done, so as soon as they are done my steak is done resting and everything is good to eat.

Looks to be identical to this one for $6 less.

u/Semigourmet · 1 pointr/recipes

for the instant noodle bowls there is a bit of prep work. but you could do it over the weekend and keep them in jars in the fridge to take to work with you.

and you would need something like this. if you have a plug in and counter at your disposal these could work well for you.
http://www.amazon.com/Ovente-KP72W-Cordless-Electric-Kettle/dp/B00DEQDEZA?ie=UTF8&keywords=electric%20tea%20kettle&qid=1465483760&ref_=sr_1_6&s=kitchen&sr=1-6

http://www.copymethat.com/r/zZ0UoSn/chicken-instant-noodle-bowl/

you could do the same thing with beef in place of the chicken by just changing out a couple of ingredients.
such as. beef in place of chicken, beef base or bouillon, peas would still work great here. and I would use the tarragon, or thyme, here basil might work. (just another option)

http://www.copymethat.com/r/XmUkTmQ/diy-instant-noodles-with-vegetables-miso/

they look a little daunting but they are mostly measuring and chopping or slicing. a mandolin will help you slice them faster, thinner and more precise.

this one would be great it would chop, slice, shred etc...

I have this Briefton 5-blade that works nicely. So far holds up.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WKENSDA?psc=1
Likely too big for your specific purposes at this time, though.

u/Joie7994 · 1 pointr/loseit

I work in kitchens and have noticed this style is the most popular, probably because it’s so easy to remove the blade. Honestly though the brand doesn’t matter as long as you keep the blade sharpened and honed.

u/gabmonty · 1 pointr/EatCheapAndHealthy

You can also do a mix of pasta noodles and zucchni noodles! I have this gadget from amazon and Zoodles are my favorite easy weeknight meal. It also can handle butternut squash.

Get yourself two Dash minis and get on the chaffle bandwagon. Quick and easy meals....Breakfast, Chaffle egg sandwich, lunch.....chaffles and anything you want...BLT, tuna, roast beef...unlimited possibilities and they absolutely travel well, so pack your lunch with Yummies.

Dinner, just keep it simple, a protein and a veggie.

Having the right tools for the job is always important.

My absolute must haves items to make cooking bearable.

  • Dash Mini , get two.
  • Ninja , combo, pressure cooker, slow cooker and air fryer! I use the air fryer the most....so great!
  • Veggie Noodles!
  • Great sauces make great dishes, I buy these at my local supermarkets.

Make it fun, experiment.....dont dwell on what you cant have, be happy for what you CAN have!
u/rabidstoat · 1 pointr/loseit

For cheap meals that are typically healthy, and often quick and easy, check out /r/EatCheapAndHealthy.

Lately I've been replacing the carbs in my dinner with... well, often nothing. Or less carbs. Like tonight I had chicken sausage with peppers and onions, and I didn't put on a bun like a sandwich, or serve it with rice or anything. I just had the veggies and meat. I did have quinoa with green curry chickpeas at lunch, but I had about 3/4th of what a normal serving is, so a little less.

Or if you want to replace pasta with veggies, try a spiralizer. If you're in the UK (I figure you're not US because of the kg) there's one here but there are lots of others. And if you look under the related products, there are cookbooks with ideas of using spiralized vegetables to replace pasta and rice.

u/DioTheory · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Stupid add-on items. >.>

I wanted to say you should get yourself this strawberry slicer because it's silly AND useful, and you could use it to slice up this strawberry ocarina from my wishlist! :D

No, you know what? I like that combo too much. XD So you should get yourself this fancy lipstick and this awesome eyeshadow to push it over the $25 mark. Because there's never a bad time to buy fancy makeup. <3

Oh, great. Now I need to keep an awkward to clean bottle around to do something that I could do with my fingers, or by pouring between the two shells, or using a smaller, inexpensive, easier to clean product designed for this purpose.

Spiralizer/Mandolin The combo tool ended up being cheaper than just getting the type of spiralizer I want, but I think I may need to get an adjustable mandolin sometime in the future.
