There are even those of us that don't even want a ring. For instance, the following list of things can be purchased for ~$2500 (which for some reason is 'moderate' as far as these things are concerned):
Now, which would you rather have? A ring that you'll probably lose, or a fucking AIRPLANE?
Yes I see that in the picture, I found the your model ( I believe). Stitch and spot setting are common, just makes fabrication easier. "UL-rated duty cycle of 60% at 160 amps"
You're welcome (google is your friend)
Might be too small for your needs but a Hobart Trek might work. http://www.amazon.com/Hobart-500539-Battery-Powered-115-Volt-Portable/dp/B002EP3560
There's a bunch of these flux-cored buzz boxes on amazon. I picked up a Pro-Series MMIG125 and it was worth every single penny. It doesn't look like it's still that cheap ($179 at the time), nor available anymore. I know the limits of the machine, but for having a welder at the ready when you really need it, they're not bad.
This is close to what I bought when I was a teenager. It is a wonderful all around machine I relined two big dump trucks made hand rails countless exhaust systems I have at least 200# of wire through it (im not a pro welder so that's a lot for me) I like that it's 110 and flux so I can weld pretty much anywhere. It is expensive compared to harbor freight but it's also a better machine and can weld thicker steel. Mine is good for 5/16 with flux so v notch and hit it from both sides and now I have successfully welded steel over 1/2".
