Sleep sacks are our 13-month-old's favorite! I like feeling like I'm keeping her blanket-level-cozy while not having any blanket risks. We have 3 in her current size, and we've used them since winter when she was in her crib alone but needed extra warmth (we had a fleece one then).
The ones we have now ( these maybe? ) are pretty light and we keep the house cool at night, so she wears a tshirt onesie underneath.

We love sleep sacks! We have an 8 month old girl. (and a 2 yo boy who no longer uses sleep sacks but did in his first year) We have cheap light weight ones from Amazon like $14 and they work fantastic! We also have the halo sleep sacks (which are expensive) in the fleece for winter but honestly the Halo sleep sacks are NOT worth $30.

This is the other option - we're currently using Burts Bees cotton sleep sacks and, while they are breathable, they're pretty hearty when it's 80 degrees. I've had my eye on the Halo Muslins, but I haven't pulled the trigger because I'm wondering if he just needs something he can kick off when it gets too hot.
Bunny Palm swaddles!! These are amazing. I received them as a gift and they’re amazing. So soft and just stretchy enough. We still use them even though we’re past the swaddle stage. They hold up really well.

I have similar worries! We have three cats and a husky, who are all our babies and have free roam of the house. I feel bad knowing they won’t get the same attention that they are used to when baby arrives, but I’m more concerned about the cats trying to curl up with the baby when it’s sleeping. I also plan to keep the nursery door closed, but I’m more concerned about when the baby is in the bassinet in our room (if we try to lock the cats out, they will claw the shit out of our carpet and ruin it trying to get in while also keeping us awake with the noise.. been there, done that).
I put this net on our registry that I plan to use over the bassinet in our room and over the pack n play when in our living room. It’s cheap and has good reviews. There are many others like it! There are even “crib tents” you can get too.

Also there is a sleep sack called SwaddleUp makes them look like a flying squirrel that helps. And your pediatrician is dumb, that’s 100% teething lol. Mine always shoved their fingers so far in their mouths they would sometimes throw up. Diaper rash, snot, red cheeks, fingers in mouth- teething. I’ve had teeth in at 2 months 😩Don’t be afraid to give Tylenol before bedtime, think of baby’s comfort, you won’t cause a dependency on drugs or liver damage, and it will help sleep.
Edit- and Aden and Anais makes this tiny breathable “blanket” that my first kid looooooved around that age so she could have something to hold and rub on her face. Link here :)
